Bills players and coaches popping up all over the playoffs

Out of the 24 coordinators in the playoffs this season Mularkey, Lebeau, Phillips, Williams, Fewell, Gilbride and Mularkey were all with Buffalo within the past decade. That almost 1/3 of all the coordinators were coaches of the Bills in the recent past. That's quite a bit for one team. I'm sure there are other numerous positional coaches out there too but it's too hard to keep track of them all.

Then you have a good number of players like Spikes, Whitner, Clements, Scott and Greer just off the top of my head that are either starters or play a decent role on their team.

The number of coaches are the very surprising stat. For almost 1/3 of all the coordinators in the playoffs to have all been coaches on the Bills is a huge numbers. Then with the Giants both of their coordinators were in Buffalo and are doing just fine in their roles with the Giants.

Buffalo really is the black hole of the NFL. Add in them stats along with the fact the Bills are the only team in the NFL not to make the playoffs since the year 2000 and I can't blame any coaches or players for not wanting to come or stay in Buffalo.

Some guys just make great coordinators but mediocre head coaches. Phillips, Williams, and Mularkey were always good coordinators before and after their head coaching gigs here.

      also, "talent matters".

Do you think perry fewell likes having a full stable of rushers who can attack the passer without a lot of scheming?

they are kind of showing that having a disruptive front four and lots of them masks secondary issues.

Exactly. This is why I was screaming for an LE for years while they used a 4-3. We had a very good secondary, Poz playing exceptionally as a Tampa 2 MLB, and Schobel at RE. Nothing coming from the strong side to match that pressure and create issues. Not even sacks, just pressure.

Very true. Even Fewell sat upon some rumors of being axed due to his system being too complicated. In fact, the Giants D actually started peaking right around the same time he was ordered to dumb his system down.

With less talent in Buffalo, no wonder...

Well, most of our coaches from the last decade were Steelers cast-offs, so the Steelers probably have even more former-coaches in the playoffs than we do.
