Hines Ward

Sure he had his least productive year since joining the league this past season, but a reason for that is because he couldn't keep up with the young up and comers on the roster. (Wallace, Brown, Sanders)

The guys got hands and has proven to be a hard player with his killer blocks and while he might not be a huge improvement he would certainly provide a sufficient possession WR.

I honestly do not see the bills doing this, but its just a thought..

We need playmakers and he definitely isn't one.

Yeah... that's going to happen.

In other news, Kelsay has been "extended" yet again, signing with Viagra as a spokeman.

Steve Johnson (BUF) first because I bought his jersey , Mario Manningham (NYG)Dwayne Bowe (KC)Vincent Jackson (SD)Dwayne Bowe (KC) or draft Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

Yeah Ward isn't the type of player the Bills will be looking for to fill the void. Assuming that Johnson and the Bills reach a deal, the Bills will be looking for a guy with size that can reel in the jump ball. A poor man's Calvin Johnson if you will.

I think Vincent Jackson is the best candidate IMO. Though VJ will be one of the most highly sought after FAs by many teams this offseason. I'm hoping that Merriman might help persuade Jackson's decision if the Bills do in fact pursue him.

Both Jackson and Merriman were drafted by Buddy Nix and AJ Smith in 2005.

He's going to be 36 in March, and he's on the downside of his career. His last 2 seasons with the Steelers were horrible.

I expect the Bills to sign a veteran receiver along the lines of a Jerrico Cotchery, nothing more.

One of my favorite players..........but he's done. He doesn't have anything left in the tank.

Plus, I know he wants to play next year, but I'm guessing he'll retire if Pittsburgh won't have him back.

Marques Colston could be the guy we go after hard while others are distracted with Bowe and Jackson.

He would be perfect. 2 7th round picks for Fitz to throw to with an udfa in the slot.

he scouted and recommended vincent jackson in SD i would expect them to make a strong push for him if he is not franchised with merriman being a recruiter of sorts. if not merriman i don't think malcolm floyd fits the "open when not open" role (floyd also was scouted by Nix in SD) that Nix was saying so if not jackson probably a top 10 guy. they know 1 of blackmon, floyd, or jeffery will be there at 10 which makes me lean that that is the pick at 10. they will not take a tackle at 10 if they bring bell back. hairston, bell would compete to start and the team would probably draft a tackle somewhere between 2-5 round. Nix has never put a priority on the position in the draft in his career and our line even when make shift aloud the fewest sacks in the league. getting back to receiver... IMO its jackson or 1 of blackmon, floyd, or jeffery at 10.

No way we have a chance at Jackson. Someone will pay him 11 mil per or more and we already have Stevie.

I like Meachem but Nix described getting a big WR who is still open when he's covered, not a speed guy. He knows Fitz is an intermediate thrower not a deep ball specialist.

Colston is good at running the routes Fitz is best at throwing.

that could be but for sure meachem and colston are going back to the saints, floyd will certainly be resigned if jackson leaves SD, Bowe will be franchised if a deal is not worked out before free agency begins so IMO if i am reading your comment with my theory then it looks like a receiver at 10 looks likely... there will be 2 of the top 3 available. their will be a better receiving prospect at 10 than LT prospect for sure. khalil and 1 other will be gone for sure and possibly 3 before we pick at 10. the "best player available" as Nix says when it comes to drafting will be at the receiver position with the 10th pick in my opinion.

Colston has had like 43 knee surgeries. I wouldn't want him....at least for the amount of money that it would take to get him.

Its not sure at all that Meachem and Colston are going back. Certainly not both. They just signed Sproles, Graham is going to be getting a monster contract soon, Brees is about to become the highest paid QB in the league and they need defensive help.

Also, Tracy Porter and Carl Nicks (PB Guard) are FA as well. No way they are bringing back both WRs and my guess is that Meachem will be the one they keep because he will be cheaper and their offense revolves around Sproles and Graham.

colston will be an easy re-sign. he is one of bree's best friends on the team and he has stated he doesnt want to leave. Meachem doesnt fit the big physical "open when he's not open" type nix stated the team wants either. Bowe has gailey ties if he hits free agency as his first big season was under gailey in KC and jackson has ties to Nix so i would assume either we go after one of them or its a second tier type and we draft a WR at 10. If they want the kind of receiver they have stated they are not going to pay a guy they do not know well (this isnt dallas where we throw money around) so i would assume either bowe or jackson or a top 10 WR.

Ward is a cheap shot artist of the first rank. Fitted right in with the Steelers organization. He's the offense equivalent of a Rodney Harrison, ex of NE.

I would be ashamed if he was on the team.

If he's ready to hang up his cleats, I think he merits some consideration as a receivers' coach. He's never had elite athleticism, but he's been a very solid receiver in all aspects of playing the position. He knows how to get the most out of his abilities. Those are the kind of guys who make the best coaches. Jim Harbaugh was not an elite passer, but knew how to get the most out of his ability, and now he's a great coach.

I love Hines and have always loved his way of playing. I don't think he was dirty, he looked for blindsides, and anyone that has played football at any level has. I just dont see him playing for anyone but the steelers. If they dont want him, he'll hang it up.
