Mike Nolan to run Falcons' defense

The Atlanta Falcons hired former San Francisco coach Mike Nolan as their defensive coordinator on Wednesday, hoping he can toughen up a unit that has rarely ranked among the NFL elite.

Nolan, a 25-year coaching veteran, spent the last two seasons as the Miami Dolphins' defensive coordinator.

Nolan replaces Brian VanGorder, who left Atlanta and returned to the college ranks as Auburn's defensive coordinator.

It is a blow to the Dolphins, Nolan is a hell of a coach.

I think this means we will promote Bowles to DC. I expect him to keep a similar system in place.
