And we just hand the worst undisputed starting QB in the NFL more loot and more years than that, this is just ridiculous. I seriously hope they just cut Fitz, Bills could have won 6 games with whoever at QB. Freaking Cards and Seahawks proved that as well this year.

Re: Alex Smith getting offered 2 years between 8-11 million
the 49ers also drafted a guy last year in round 2 that they assumedly think is better. so they offer Alex something fair on his production and see what he has to say. if he walks, they have another guy that they have belief in and who has been in the system for a year.
alex smith is a hard guy to gauge. he's been successful this year. he's been pretty bad at times. he played in a weak division. he had a great defense. he has an amazing running back in Gore. he's got crabtree and davis as targets. an outside team that just looks at last years numbers sees a good qb, but someone who jumps into it still sees question marks.
another team bringing in Alex smith won't necessarily sell tickets on his name alone. So in some ways Alex smith has a good thing going for him on a short term deal. if he can perform again for 2 years, he'll be a hot commodity. it's almost to his advantage if he can get to the playoffs again next year, which may not be so hard on that team.Last edited by trapezeus; 01-26-2012, 11:32 AM.

It is fairly obvious any crap QB could have won 6 games, you have no idea what football is if you say otherwise and really should just give up watching football and go make excuses for something else.

Re: Alex Smith getting offered 2 years between 8-11 million
Originally posted by PTI3 of the games the Bills won they had 4 INTs, and in one other win they had 10 sacks. That is 4 of the games. Fitz gave the ball away in a few of those games too. Any crap QB could have won those games. The other win was against a terribly depleted Kansac City team who was blown out the following week too before righting the ship. The only game I might give Fitz credit is the Oakland game, but the thing is, the Raiders and Bills tied at allowing 27.1 a game, Raiders defense was pathetic too, Bills should have scored that much.

If you think anyone could have easily won us 6 games, you must be on drugs if you think someone like Trent Edwards would have won us 6 games. Just say no to drugs.
In case you havent read my posts, I am not particularly high on Fitz. His deep balls blows but to simply put the blame on him is being dumb about football.
Inspite of having 3 tds vs. the jets in the 2nd game, Fitz didn't give Sanchez his carreer 4tds. Fitz also had 316 yards and 2 tds vs, the fins but he didn't give Reggie Bush his career 200 yard game. Again, Fitz isn't all that but he isnt the only one to blame. He didn't give up a franchise record in yards.Last edited by justasportsfan; 01-26-2012, 12:52 PM.

Alex Smith is terrible, D carried that team.
It's probably 8 to 11 million per year not total. OP doesn't even provide a link.Last edited by kingJofNYC; 01-26-2012, 12:46 PM.

Re: Alex Smith getting offered 2 years between 8-11 million
What a ****ing joke. Anyone who thinks Fitz is the worst starting QB in the NFL needs to have their head examined.
Give Fitz the same defense that got all Flutie lovers hot and bothered and the Bills would have been in the playoffs this year easily.
Constantly trying to come back from double digit deficits because our D couldn't stop teams forces the O to take chances they shouldn't have to, and that skews things quite a bit.
Fitz is a solid average QB and deserves to be the bills starting QB in 2012. I have no problem drafting a QB but we won't be in that position this year because we won to many games

League sources have informed Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area that Smith is expected to eventually sign a two or three year extension, paying him roughly $8 million-to-$11 million per season.

Re: Alex Smith getting offered 2 years between 8-11 million
So if Smith signs a guaranteed deal worth $24-33 million for 3 years (8 - 11 million per) he's making slightly more then Fitz over the same three years.
Fitz's contract only calls for $24 million guaranteed and his per year average is just under $10
They seem comparable and before they year both were destined for the scrap heap until their play on the field saved them.

Ive watched Alex Smith 2 times ever. One was during the playoffs, and one was during the Shaun Hill "era". Both times Alex Smith looked unbelievable. He makes some amazing throws at times and when hes on, hes great. But then i do know he has alot of ****ty games as well, but if this year he did so good, and he showed promise in the past years but wasnt consistant, maybe hes finally developing that? Not here to be right, just here to have interesting discussions about my impulsive opinions
