Bills moving primarily to 4-man front on defense

This according to Chan Gailey at today's presser.

Says they will still be a hybrid defense, but mostly 4-man front.

He also said Sheppard will be the MLB in 4-3.

Re: Bills moving primarily to 4-man front on defense

Finally. Its about time we stop posing./
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I think its a solid choice. Wanny is comfortable with a 4-3, and we need a ton of pieces on defense, regardless of what we play. A healthy Williams, and a more experienced Dareus in the middle has be excited. Although they need way more, its still at least something to look forwards to.

Now I can tighten up the mock. Schweet.

I'd look for them to add a WLB between the 2nd and 4th and a DE between the 1st and 3rd. One of those positions will probably be addressed twice.

We don't need different ones, but that doesn't mean we won't draft one. Or maybe another RB.

If there's one thing I've learned from watching the Bills draft, it's that you can NEVER have too many CB's or RB's.

At this point, I think one of their best options is to double dip on DEs in the first two rounds. We didn't have any 3-4 OLBs, and we don't know how the switch back to 4-3 will go for Carrington and them, though I think Carrington has a chance to be a solid starter at LE.

So do people still like Upshaw as an option at #10? Because I don't really see how he's a good fit in a 4-3.

Been saying this as I see every other mock with him at 10.

Could he do it? Who knows, but it is usually best to go with a guy that is used to playing with his hand in the dirt, holding up to tackles and guards.

I thought Curry outplayed him at the Senior Bowl.

He is a fit but not as great as a 3-4 IMO....
After the SR bowl I wasn't overally impressed with his play....

I do like the fact of Dareus, Williams in the middle....
We actually stopped the run early in the season when they were in the middle....

This actually a good thing for Kelsay, he played very well when we went with a 4 man front....

Kelsay and Carrington, with Edwards rotating are your DE'S....

SO I guess Barnett is the OLB which I thought was going to happen...

But I do think DE is your pick in the 1 of the 1st 2 rounds....

                      You may be right.
Funny thing is Curry played crap in the Bowl game and Upshaw was all over the place vs LSU....
I think Upshaw did have a bad SR game though....

im guessing they draft upshaw to start at rde, and then pick up another premium pass rusher who is 2nd tier like brooks or bierman...

Kelsay is below average at LE. If they somehow land Coples, he has ideal size for the strong side.

If they could grab someone later like Curry, or even later like a Jacquies Smith, they could improve the run D and pass rush with just one or two picks.

I didn't watch the whole thing, I was playing some Uncharted 3 :P

What I saw of Curry I liked. He made some nice reads and plays at 110% all the time. His power surprised some of the OTs. Upshaw wasn't nearly as noticeable.

Curry actually had 2 sacks that game. Upshaw was being owned by Adams.

I've watched a good amount of curry, and with some refinement, he could be a steady problem for opposing QBs.
