Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl/buffalo-bills) quarterbacks coach David Lee (http://www.kffl.com/player/11610/nfl/david-lee) said he believes the team will be able to use WR Brad Smith (http://www.kffl.com/player/13394/nfl/brad-smith) in different ways next season because of his ability to throw the ball as well as running the ball. "Brad gives us more dimensions. We have some things that we have in mind and that's yet to be finalized as to what we'll do. But there are some things that we've done that may suit Brad Smith (http://www.kffl.com/player/13394/nfl/brad-smith)," Lee said.

As the back-up QB?

I think that should read to incorporate more than they did. I see him getting more snaps in 2012 when we have an entire offseason to work with him. I could see him like the Steelers used Kordell Stewart in 1995/1996. Ie more pass atttempts and more running plays and possibly more receptions.

Good, because they had ZERO creativity with him this past year

Brad Smith pitches to Spiller who pitches it to Jackson who fakes a pitch to Johnson then runs to the outside throws it across the field to Brad Smith who then throws a 90 yd TD to Brad Smith in the endzone. It will never fail!

I would like to see Smith throw from the WC next season to keep teams honest.

Guess we have fool everyone and use gimmick offense to be successful.

Didn't we read this same article when we signed Smith before last season?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Mularkey's going to be pissed- he just became a HC and somehow you're already stealing his plays and giving them to the Bills.

I hope we use Smith in different ways. Last year he attempted 1 pass and had it intercepted. One completion this year will be a big improvement.

Heh - when I first read your post, I thought you meant "water closet." A throw from that would be interesting indeed...

Reminds me of an old Jack Paar joke.

An English lady is visiting Switzerland. She asks about the location of the "W.C." The Swiss, thinking she is referring to the "Wayside Chapel", leaves her a note that said (in part) "the W.C. is situated nine miles from the room that you will occupy... It is capable of holding about 229 people and it is only open on Sunday and Thursday... It may interest you to know that my daughter was married in the W.C. and it was there that she met her husband... I shall be delighted to reserve the best seat for you, if you wish, where you will be seen by everyone."

Exactly. But next year will be different . . .

Good one!

Paar was a good wit, as Carson was. Leno used to be, but pretty much what he does now is variations on political screeds, and developed a smarmy self-importance that rivals Letterman - if that's possible.

I don't know what took them a whole season to realize this. I thought the fact that he could throw was the reason why we brought him in.

the team didn't have much time to practice it because we didn't have OTA's. Injuries to the wr forced them to have him play wr full time. Well thats what they said.

Maybe he can be useful and clean up the locker room latrines for that huge $$$ he got.

15 games, 5 starts, 20 rushes for 87 yards, 23 catches for 240. He's 28 years old, for those that bark about Freddies' age. In his passing career, he's 50% - 4 for 8. Sweet! :-)

Patriots have been doing it for years.

Patriots do not run a gimmick offense. Are you seriously saying that?

The Smith signing was a mistake from the get go. He isn't worth the money we gave him. Instead of paying millions to a jack of all trades master of none how about we get a real QB?

Spread in the past has been seen as a college only gimmick offense. I see what he is getting at...

But don't personally think it is a gimmick.

Or a real WR.

I agree, not a gimmick, but I also do not believe the Patriots run a real spread offense either, but I could be wrong. Patriots make no bones about what they do, they are living on Brady's arm. He had 611 attempts in 2011, but his 2nd highest was 601, and that was in 2002, so they have passing forever, and first really started going 4 and 5 wide because they could never run against the Steelers and always had lackluster RBs. They are and have always been about finding the right matchup.
