Miller was at his best while the Canadiens tried for the comeback. The Sabres' goaltender made 13 saves in the third period and finished with 27. His 234th victory tied Dominik Hasek's franchise record.

"It's one of those things you kind of smile about looking back later on," Miller said. "I'm going to take it for what it is because I think Dom would have won a few shootouts in his day."

thought I would never see Dom's franchise record get beaten.

For comparison purposes:

Hasek
491 GP
234-187-70

Miller
430 GP
234-141-45

Obviously, Miller had a much better team in front of him than Hasek.. but I have to give credit where credit is due.

Good work Miller!

How many of those Miller victories were due to the shoot out? Hasek didn't have the shoot out.

Hasek had 70 ties in his Buffalo career (If I counted correctly)

Today, those games would go into a shootout. Easily split it 50/50 and his win total is bumped up to about 270.

So it's a milestone for Miller, but only technically.

I wonder what Miller's record would look like okaying in the era of ties instead of Shootouts.

I was curious so I checked.

Miller SO Wins:

05-06: 3
06-07: 10
07-08: 4
08-09: 8
09-10: 4
10-11: 2
Current season: 1

So 235 minus those 32 SO wins which would have been counted as ties leaves him at 203.

Just to be fair.

430 GP
203-141-77

So he needs to go at least .500 to actually beat Dom's record in as many GP.
