I would be interested to know how the Bills got into that position which substantially limits what they can do with Stevie's contract as well as movement in free agency.

ha. They're already working on reasons why the Bills won't be active in FA.

We certainly seem to spend more for less than many teams in the league. The Bengals, Broncos, Niners and even the Pats - all playoff teams - are in better shape than us. And some of the big spenders - at least the Steelers and Giants, as I recall from the list - at least get a bang for their bucks.

We just keep spending too much money on our mediocre veterans, and slogging along near the bottom of the standings, but right up their in terms of the cap.

Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

            my thoughts exactly.

If we have to set aside $5 million for draft choices, that brings us to about $113.5 and leaves us with just $10.5 million in space.

I heard $7.5 tossed around for Stevie- that leaves us with just $3 million.

            Ouch.

A lot of that has to do with the trade of Evans and the release in Maybin. All told, the Bills have around 8+ million next year in dead money on the cap.

Actually with cash to cap, all of Stevie's bonus would count against this year's cap. So that leaves us over the cap...

That's where we stand now...........Bills had cap space left at the end of 2011. That cap space can now be added to the following years cap. I estimate $8-10 million, so the Bills salary cap will be around $128-$133 million

We can save $2.4 million by cutting McGee

Average per season does not equal cap per season

We should also be cutting Spencer Johnson another 3 mil and I wouldn't be too upset if we let Dwan Edwards go now either.

Is anyone else as furious about the mismanagement of this team as I am?

How can we possibly be so ****ing bad and yet still have no cap space for improvement? Where the **** does all this money go? I swear, Ralph just takes the cash and stuffs in his mattress before Nix can grab it and flush it down the toilet.

You probably wouldn't be so furious if you didn't over exaggerate everything. We have over $20 million in cap space as it stands right now. There's also plenty of moves we can make to free up money. Cutting Merriman and Edwards woulds save almost $9.5 million alone. Plus another $3.5 mil for Spencer Johnson and another $3.5 mil for Florence.
