Metzelaars to tutor Bills tight ends

    "
He was the Bills starting tight end for the better part of 10 seasons. Now Pete Metzelaars will be in charge of coaching that position group after being hired Tuesday by head coach Chan Gailey as the team’s new tight ends coach.
Metzelaars spent the past two seasons as offensive line coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Prior to that, he spent two seasons as the assistant offensive line coach after being promoted from offensive quality control coach."

" I'd try to see things from your point of view but..........there's only room up your a** for one head ! "

They will certainly be better blockers after Pete gets done with them.

Maybe this will motivate Chandler to stick around.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
      It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Now we don't have to sign Finley because OBD will tell us that Metzelaars will make Onobun and Chandler into Finley and Witten.

Meh, not impressed with his work in Indy. They have failed repeatedly to develop a suitable backup behind Dallas Clark.

Jacob Tamme? He has almost 70 catches in '10 with Clark out.

They will be better people, too.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

                      Wiki;
                      Coaching
After retiring, Metzelaars moved into the coaching ranks as the offensive coordinator at Charlotte Christian School from 1998-2002. In 2003, Metzelaars joined Wingate University as an assistant offensive coach but also served in NFL Europe with Barcelona during the off-season. He also was an intern with the Indianapolis Colts during their 2003 training camp, assisting with the tight ends under Offensive Coordinator Tom Moore. In 2004, Metzelaars joined the Colts staff full-time as the offensive quality control coach.
                      TE, OQC, then OL.

I wouldn't blame his one year assisting with TEs on their lack of depth at the position.

For a few seasons, Ben Utecht was a quality #2 TE.

TE assist during the intern is just for the training camp period. Then he became a full time offensive assistant, then OL coach. I don't see the issue.

Even if he was officially the TE coach (which he wasn't) you're bashing the guy on TE which, based in the Colts Offense, focuses on receiving and being the slot guy? That's a little unfair.

Mein either. Heck, he could probably suit up for us and be our #2.
