Would you bring back Takeo for depth?

He might be released by San Diego. I wouldn't mind having him back as a veteran for depth. He's been healthy.

Linebacker Takeo Spikes, due almost $3 million next year, is also a candidate for release.

nope. go younger and faster. we need a big time play maker on defense as an end or as an LB. not aging stopgaps.

Love TKO as a person, but his football days are behind him. I realize we all said this in 2006 or somewhere around there, and he played well last year.

While Takeo is a class guy, I don't think he has much left. I would rather move forward with younger guys who might grow into what Takeo once was.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I'd rather have Takeo than Morrison as MLB depth behind the young Sheppard.

If he wants to be a mentor and play in select packages I think thats a solid thing for young LBers.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
            It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

i think he could be a solid pick up as a mentor/situational player.. he did stay healthy last year, and he is a stand up guy, from what i remember. as was said above i think he's an upgrade over morrison

with nix and his staff from the chargers, i think we can pick up a couple lbs in the middle rounds and find faster younger more talented guys compared to what tko is now.

we need to continue to get younger on d.

                      He's more of a 3-4 LB now.

The team gave up on Takeo too early, but now it's too late to go back and fix that mistake.

On the other hand, I'd once again have the jersey of a current Bill if he did come back....

No. Takeo wanted out. It started when we cut Posey and then Fletcher left.

I still can't believe we let Fletch get away.

he wanted to leave too. Practically everyone that played under Mularkey wanted to leave the team once we decided to keep him.
