Hypothetical: Last 57 seconds from Super Bowl

I'm trying to figure out the nature of the Bills fan pessimism.

Let's assume the Bills were the Giants in the superbowl (or any game for that matter). The Bills have scored with 57 seconds which may not be the right move. Then the bills kick it off, get to fourth and 16, allow a conversion, then have too many men on the field to move the hail mary 5 yards closer and now able to make it into the endzone.

the hail mary is thrown down field. Do you think that pass is caught by gronkowski?

I would have seen all those errors from scoring the touchdown too early, to letting a conversion occur on 4th and forever, and a bone headed 12 men on the field all being typical buffalo and a sign that we would lose.

    What do you think?

The Bills would have been flagged for pass interference.

I tell you, the Patriots made many strategical mistakes on the Giants drive. Why did they let then have a play on first down, with 1:09 left, the Giants ran and got 1 yard and the Patriots called timeout with :57 left.. The Patriots could have let the Giants score on that play and had 1:04 left with and extra timeout.

Not sure if this was already discussed.

yeah. i think it happened very fast for the patriots. at the moment, as a casual observer, you had to wonder what the giants wanted to do. Are they playing for the FG or are they looking for a TD. If you stop them and waste your timeouts, you could get the ball back with 45 seconds, no timeout, and a field goal wins it for you.

then once they let that pass get the first down but he was pushed out of bounds, you don't know what to think. and that's when they switched over to let them score. they didn't have enough timeouts at that point now do anything but watch the game bleed away. something he had to go through in buffalo.

i just brought this up, because i felt confident watching these errors that the giants would win. but afterwards, i said, "if the bills did it, we would have lost." and i was just curious if i'm particularly pessimistic or everyone kind of has the same feelings.

nope we would have kneeled and not run the ball just like we did the first time we beat the pats.

My Bills fan pessimism enters all sporting events where I have a rooting interest. I was actually surprised New England didn't pull down that Hail Mary.

And to answer your question, yes, Buffalo would've found a way to blow that game.

I actually thought, that if the Bills were in that situation the other team would have caught that hail mary, and I would have become a full fledged alcoholic.

in my opinion, the Giants made the critical mistake about not downing the ball on the 1 yard line. 95%-98% field goal percentage vs. giving Brady the ball back w/ 59 seconds left. I'll take the field goal every time. The Giants had luck on their side the entire game.

Stevie would've been flagged for excessive celebration.
Raynor would have whiffed on the kick, giving the pats the ball on the Bills 30.
Welker would've scored on the first offensive play, putting Patriots up 24-21.
McKelvin fumbles the KO, Pats recover.
Brady hits Gronkowski to go up 31-21.
                    Pats recover onside kick.
BJG-Ellis breaks through the front seven and blows through the secondary to score as time runs out. Bellicheat goes for two.

                    Final score 39-21.

Fred Jackson isn't dumb enough to fall into the endzone and score.

So we probably lose on a blocked chipshot FG.

Lest you forget, Fred ran for a TD in the first Bills-Pats game, but was tackled just short, fortunately for the Bills.

Yeah but the scenarios were completely different. With that much time to talk things over and already in FG range, I really doubt Freddie does what Bradshaw did.

Phillips batted it down from Hernandez, not Gronk. Gronk pretty much did a face plant trying to grab it on it's way down.

My answer is no...even Florence could've batted it down.
