listening to Sirius/XM Home Ice this morning they were talking about how the Sabres beat up on Boston last night and then they threw Hecht's name out there saying that the Sabres might waive Hecht.
they said that there is talk about the Sabres waiving Jochen Hecht. Same thing that they did with Rivet last year Hecht is suffering through concussion problems and he's slated to become an UFA after this season and which would free up 3.5M on the cap so they would be able to make a trade or a few trades at the deadline.
The week before the trade deadline the Sabres had attempted to trade Craig Rivet but was unsuccessful so he was waived on February 23. He cleared waivers and was assigned to the Sabres’ AHL affiliate. On February 25, Rivet entered re-entry wavers and was claimed by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
