    Gaustad as trade bait?

His contract is up at the end of this season and the NBC announcers kept talking about the potential to move him to a contender at the deadline.

I've liked Gaustad ever since he took out Ovechkin after Ovechkin sent Briere head first into the boards several years ago, but there is no doubt that his play has tailed off. He's great on the PP and the face-off but doesn't add much offensively.

Will he be moved? Can we get anything valuable for him?

His name has been a popular one connected to trade talks for a few weeks now.

If he is moved, it will definitely hurt our face-offs and PK, but, honestly, it doesn't matter for this season. It's all about a) if they're interested in re-signing him and b) what a contender is willing to give up for him.

they could always resign him in July

I've seen plenty of teams do that

The team who takes Gaustad should be forced to take Stafford off our hands also.

I wouldn't be opposed to it, however if management feels like they have any potential of a playoff run I doubt he goes.

Somebody was saying during the game that he was called into Pegulas office before the game.. stayed in there for a good hour

                Regier's office, not Pegula's

I would keep him and give him a contract extension. If they want to dump salary, there's plenty of others that are worse.

I would definitely move any UFA. Dominic Moore got Tampa a 2nd rounder, I can't think Gaustad is of lesser value than Moore.

Think Gausted is better than Moore as an overall player. Not as good offensively but overall.

i think there's a good chance Goose gets moved this week, and the team resigns him in july... im sure he's got better than good trade value to a contender, he's one of the top face-off guys in the league, a vet who likes to hit, and recently been outstanding defensively

actually, Briere speared Ovie in the balls in the game AFTER that incident. That was his retaliation.

Man, I miss Briere. That spear was kind of dirty, but that's exactly the types of things the little guys have to do to not get pushed around. I hope Ennis gets that same streak.
