My brother said that if Phil Simms had started in Super Bowl XXV, the Bills would lost by more than 1 point and a possible blowout like the other 3 Bowls. I take the brunt of his hating on the Bills ( and I hate hearing it from him all the time), but would like your thoughts on this. Well?

Do we have to keep bringing this up?

It's like going up to someone and saying "hey man, remember that time your grandma died?" or "remember that time your dog got hit by that truck?"

I don't give a ****. It was 22 years ago and I'm over it. You should be too.

Yeah, let it go....it's an exercise in futility.

The appropriate reaction is to tell him he is stupid and punch him in the face.

I'll answer with a question...

Does your brother know that the Bills and Giants played in the 1990 season?

Phil Simms was the starting QB that day. He actually suffered the injury that sidelined him for the season during that game as well.

Look closer at that box score, Frank Reich got in the game and actually lead the team to win. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkN0P3aRIE0&feature=related and skip to 21:30. Now the more important question could be what if Frank Reich played in that Super Bowl?

Simms was an average-at-best QB with arguably 2 good seasons in his career. Before getting injured against the Bills in that 1990 in-season game, he did nothing. Hostetler actually gave them a better chance in the SB.

I'll go back to the day of the game. I was in the stadium & in the middle of the game I turned to the Giants fans next to me (I had the last seat of the Bills package & the Giants package people were next to me) and I said. "If Phil Simms was in the game you'd be killing us right now"
That was my opinion when the game was actually taking place in front of me, which I believe is better than if I was looking back in hindsight 21 years later. Phil Simms was a far superior QB than Hostetler.

The following season, Hostetler beat out Simms to be the starting QB. In fact, Hostetler was the starter for 2 seasons after Super Bowl XXV with Simms as his back up. While Simms was an ok QB, people want to remember him as being a lot better than that since he was a Super Bowl MVP and is on national TV every week. I don't think its a coincidence that Hostetler beat the 49ers and the Bills, while Simms lost to both during the 1990 regular season.

If Phil Simms starts SB XXV, Buffalo wins the SB and prevents 9/11 from ever happening.

Phil Simms hates America.

That's partially correct: Handley chose Hostetler over Simms for 1991, but in 1992, Simms was the starter, he was never Hostetler's backup that year. His season lasted only 4 games because of a season ending injury, not because he was relegated to the backup role. Simms returned from the injury and was the starter in 1993, the year the Giants let Hostetler sign with the Raiders rather than give him the starter's job.
There's no comparison between regular season & postseason, just ask the 2007 Patriots.

If Phil Simms starts, does Darryl Talley learn how to tackle?

I like this idea. After you kick him in the nuts, tell him it would have hurt more if you used the other foot.
