Re: Jets to tag............Maybin.
That's not a tag. He's a restricted free agent who got a qualifying offer.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/24/report-jets-to-use-first-round-rfa-tender-on-maybin/In 2009, the Bills made linebacker/defensive end Aaron Maybin a first-round pick.Last edited by Albany,n.y.; 02-24-2012, 01:45 PM.

That's not the same thing as the tag. It just allows them to match any offer he receives. If they don't match the offer, they get a 1st round pick.

He wouldve excelled with Wanny. His issue, his 2nd year our team wanted big strong players (ironically enough the year before all we wanted was small/quick ones), it was when i think we got troup and Carrington. 2 massive guys. We also had Kelsay, Merriman, Batten, Johnson, Carrington playing the OLBs for a while. Never had anyone who weighed less than moats whos around 255-260. Wanny likes players who are small and quick and can rush. Maybin fits that mold perfectly. Not here to be right, just here to have interesting discussions about my impulsive opinions

I realize he was used as a "situational" player (whoever would blow their #1 on such is a matter best discussed among mental therapists), but did he ever record a tackle against a running back?
I know he had outside speed, unless he was interrupted by a lineman who flicked him aside with all the ease that you or I would flick a booger down the hallway.Last edited by stuckincincy; 02-24-2012, 03:10 PM.Fiat justitia ruat caelum. Noli timere. Laus Deo.

Re: Jets to tag............Maybin.
They are giving him the low tender, which is $1.3M. He did have 6 sacks as a sub-rusher, so that isn't outrageous.
That tender requires original round compensation from any team that signs him to an offer sheet that isn't matched. Because Maybin was a 1st round pick that is his original round comp.

Not that Maybin is really any good but he did show some signs of being a contributor with the Jets last year.
The 2009 #11 overall pick has 25 solo tackles, and 10 assists, over three years, with one NFL start in 39 games (some starter must have been injured). It doesn't get much more sorry than that.
I would spend 20 bucks to a bouncer to toss him out the door.Last edited by stuckincincy; 02-24-2012, 04:06 PM.Fiat justitia ruat caelum. Noli timere. Laus Deo.
