Im seriously wondering about this mainly because of the strength in DTs this year, and with us only having 2 LBs that are good. Imagine this

Kelsay, Williams, Poe, Dareus, Chandler Jones/Curry/FA

Barnet, Sheppard

This may seem crazy, but you have Poe, Williams, and Dareus NEVER gonna be double teamed. Poe, Dareus, and Williams will ALWAYS go 1 on 1 with the LG,C,RG. Like the nickel defense, Barnett and Sheppard will be in control of half of there field. Both are MLBs, and are used to this responsibility. No one will be able to run the inside, the DEs are more spread out and can conrol the edge. This is just one formation, it will go along with the 4-3, so when the defense is going shotgun, switch to 4-3 and have Poe go to DE. I just like the idea of on one back sets having our 3 DTs on 3 inside members of the opposing line.

I love your imagination but this is not high school football where you can run a 52 defense.

It's a passing league. What good would a 5-2 be?

4-3 under behaves like a 5-2

I used to be in a 5-2 defense... I think I was waving to my mom from the safety position while kids fumbled constantly and my overly-aggressive Pee-Wee coach screamed about ball control.

Unless its a Bear D or goalline, this is stupid. Works against the run, but that's what audivles are for

4-3 under behaves like a 5-2

...and it would produce the same results Cali. But it could only be run in short yardage situations, and only with a ridiculously good defensive backfield.

You've been doing a great job of creatively thinking outside the box and keeping things fresh around here. Keep it up.:beers:

So every team would toss a short pass to the TE and watch him run for 20 yards every play.

You do realize that teams now throw more than 60 % of the time ?

So Dontari Poe has a solid combine and he becomes a number 10 pick.

That's a hell of a rise for the kid.

I just used his name bc it was started in the thread but my feeling is if we drafted a dt we could ruj 3-4 or a big 4-3

Yep.

IMO, the combine is a media event, with players instructed by agents to run or not run, pass or not pass, catch or not pass and so on. Don't expose yourself. The "media kits" are sent out to the pundits, same as the movie Oscar aspirants do.

Those who are pegged in the latter rounds try, and sometimes improve their chances.
