Mike Wallace to be Tendered not Franchised

Wallace is ALOT better than Stevie. It will cost a 1st though if Pit doesn't match

That system is a bit weighted to the benefit of the teams that need it least... NYG's, for example, have a lot less value to lose when balancing the worth of draft pick value vs the Colts. Perhaps a draft value chart should be considered for the future.

this is a brilliant move by the steelers

im willing to be no one signs him for the cost of a 1st pick

and the steelers get to play this game for real next year

maybe just maybe a team like san fran trys or NE with the 30th or 31st pick does it but i still doubt it

the have a right to match welker was a 2nd when the pats signed him miami misjudged

          the steelers didnt

if the Bills are smart hey trade back twice in the 1st then use that pic to sign Wallace and pick up 2 extra 2nd round picks along with a great WR
lets go BUFFALO lets go BUFFALO

It sounds so easy when you put it that way.

No question the Patriots sign him for a first over all.
True fans want wins, not draft picks.

Comp for a RFA has to be slotted at the team's original pick or better in the round. If the Bills were to trade back they would not be able to sign Wallace to an offer sheet, as they would no longer have a pick in their original slot (or better).

The Ravens should get all over that!

No, the signing period for RFA ends a week before the draft, and the pick takes place in this year's draft. If a team doesn't have a pick of equal or higher value than needed, then they can not sign the player to an offer sheet.

They could approach the Steelers and offer different trade value, as long as the player was willing. In that scenario, the team would offer the Steelers different compensation, like a 1st next year, and if the player was willing to sign the tender and be traded to said team it would work. It would mean the Steelers would be willing to accept the alternate compensation and the player was willing to sign the tender and be traded.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Steelers take somebody's 1st rounder and let him walk. They know the deal and what wins.
They will find another SEC wr in the 3rd rd.

Here is what I don't understand, people would be happy to draft Michael Floyd with the 10th pick but would not use it for purposes of acquiring a 25 year old proven pro bowl receiver.

I think it would be a good move for the Pats or Ravens.
