Damn, I wanted Campbell. But I'm not surprised he was tagged.

Nugent?

Why waste a tag on a kicker?

Because it is cheap. The K tag is something like $2.6M. If you have a good K and can't reach a long-term agreement, that isn't bad money to rent him for a year.

There will probably be another K tagged as well soon. If Matt Prater isn't signed before Monday, there is no way Denver is going to let him get to FA.

Connor Barth of TB is a candidate to be tagged as well.

Nugent?

He had a great year last year. 33-for-38 on FG, despite playing outdoors in Ohio. He also has one of the NFL's strongest legs, as shown by his 36 touchbacks on kickoffs.

Nugent has always been very talented, which is why he was drafted so high (2nd round). He was a little erratic early in his career, and had an ACL injury that derailed him a little. However, he has put it all together and is one of the NFL's best kickers.

Secures you don't lose the Kicker and the franchise tag for a Kicker is pretty low against the cap.

You remember Dave Rayner and Brandon Coutu last year, right?

Branch was tagged? Man, Oakland had a ton of cap space they needed to clear even before that. Now they've really got to do some work before the 13th. Rumors that Kamerion Wimbley would be let go - I wouldn't mind seeing him in Buffalo.

I've never seen such a selfish player get so much love. He has shown that he doesn't care about the team by his actions on multiple occasions. He can beat it on down the road as far as I'm concerned.

Dawson has now been tagged in back to back years in Cleveland.

Kinda disconcerning they can't work out a 4-5 year deal with him.

Colston's stats compare to Stevie yet he's 3 years older and been more injury prone than Stevie. True he has a Super Bowl ring etc but look closer at these former 7th Round picks. As over the last two seasons Colston's amassed 2166 yards compared to Stevie's 2077. Colston's caught 164 balls compared to Stevie's 158. Colston's caught 15 TDs whereas Stevie's caught 17. Yet I don't think anyone would say that Stevie's benefitted to playing indoor most games as Colston has and had the luxery of playing with Drew Brees. All things considered I still say franchising Stevie and locking him up to a long term deal is the best plan for the Bills.

We'll see... will they also be fine without the Bills once they move? One bad season and they'll be pushing them out the door faster than Houston did to the Oilers. Should, anyway.

Guy makes a couple mistakes and he doesn't care about the team? If anything his emotional reactions show he does care. And the fact that he is most likely going to sign here for another 5 years which takes him to 31 years old is a HUGE sign that he cares. He is 1 week away from FA so if he didn't care about Buffalo, he would be testing the market to see who would pay him the most, and we all know it wouldn't be Buffalo.

Should see a flurry of tags today.

One guy who won't be tagged is Arian Foster, who agreed to a 5-year deal with Houston today (https://twitter.com/#!/McClain_on_NFL/status/176657545245626368).

4 PM EST, when the league office closes.

S Michael Griffin of the Titans is expected to be tagged today (https://twitter.com/#!/jwyattsports/status/176654317607071744). That means Cortland Finnegan will hit FA, and likely get big money.

but he had good games against Darelle Revis. Immaturity, drops and hurting the team don't matter if a WR can do that.

The talk down here is Tampa will go after Finnegan.

It would be smart of them to load up on cover guys since they play in a division with Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan. Lots of teams that like to air the ball out in the NFC South.

Denver placed the franchise tag on K Matt Prater. That brings the total up to 14 players tagged thus far (including Griffin, who has been reported but not officially announced). Interesting that off those 14 players tagged, 3 are K and 3 are S. Shows that those tags are low enough to be values.

Current Status:

RB (2): Matt Forte - Chi, Ray Rice - Bal

TE (1): Fred Davis - Was

WR (3): DeSean Jackson - Phi, Wes Welker - NE, Dwayne Bowe - KC

Vincent Jackson (SD), Mario Williams (Hou), Matt Flynn (GB) and Carl Nicks (NO) were players considered tag candidates at one time, but were not tagged.

With free agency still a week away there will be a number of players who re-sign with their teams. It will be an interesting week to see what the final list of free agents looks like.

Come March 13 at 4 PM, all hell breaks loose.

Yeah, especially in the Super Bowl. He had 3 punts inside the 10-yard line.
