    MANNING

Reports have been circulating throughout the league in recent days that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning's rehab back from neck surgery has been progressing in a positive direction, and three sources with knowledge of Manning's rehab told NFL Network's Albert Breer that Manning steadily has regained strength in his grip and triceps.

    Peyton's Place?

    The latest:
» Cardinals duo artfully dodges Manning talk
» Darlington: Expect unexpected in Miami's QB quest
» Billboard calls for Manning to play for 'Fins
» Breer: Manning timetable hinges on critical factor
» Texans' Cody not surprised at Manning's desire
» Manning threw at 85 percent, wanted to play
» SI.com report adds strange chapter to story
Now there's reportedly visual proof to confirm Manning's returning arm strength, as a 27-second video of Manning going through an aggressive throwing session in his Colts helmet, shoulder pads and jersey at Duke University appeared on YouTube late Friday.

A source confirmed to Breer on Saturday that the player in the video was Manning.

In the video, which appears to have been taken from behind a goal post in an end zone, Manning can be seen throwing deep balls and "out" routes to either side of the field.

ESPN reported, citing sources close to Duke and Manning, that Manning has been conducting throwing sessions under the supervision of Duke head coach David Cutcliffe (Manning's offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee) since Tuesday. Sources also said that Manning has been in Durham, N.C., with Colts teammates Dallas Clark and Austin Collie and ex-teammate Brandon Stokley.

The Duke athletic department confirmed to NFL Network that Manning will be at Saturday night's men's college basketball game between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Manning is due a $28 million option bonus on March 8, and speculation has persisted that the Colts will release Manning before that date.

Manning wants to get the word out he is progressing with his rehab? What a surprise. The question remains will he ever be anywhere close to NFL level again.

I'm not sure, but I can't think of anybody that would work harder to make that happen than Peyton. That guy eats & sleeps 'being ready' to play the game. On the practice field, watching footage, as long as it takes, whatever it takes.

Not necessarily, especially if he isn't 100% and wants to undergo the least amount of scrutiny possible by any media or football people present. Pretty smart move by Peyton or his agent if that's the case IMO.

It's to showcase himself with FA starting next week...without a doubt. The timing was calculated.

The Colts aren't paying the bonus and teams will alter their draft plans if they think he's got 2-3 good years left in the tank.

Unmistakeable. His footwork alone gives it away.
