What about Freeney if no Mario?

On Monday, Silva pointed out that, with the Colts giving defensive end Robert Mathis a new four-year, $36 million contract that kicks out $17 million in 2012 alone, the team now has more than $30 million tied up this year in a pair of defensive ends who are on the wrong side of 30.

Big fan of what he does to QBs, but he's a major liability against the run.

If they got him, great, but I'd rather have a complete player at RE.

If the Bills were a contender then sure, but since they are in the build phase it does not make any sense to spend on an aging veteran. Bills need guys they can build around for the 3-5 years.

im too lazy to look up exactly how old he is, but he has been in the league a while, has had trouble staying healthy, and is on the wrong side of his career...at this point i would have to pass....if the bills had made the playoffs the last two years and were missing just one or two pieces to [ush them over the hump then he's worth it

Freeney would be a very nice pick up for a year or 2.

Simeon Rice had 14 sacks at the age of 32/33 for the Bucs. These guys are superior athletically so at 32 its like 29.

He had 8.5 sacks last year on a horrible team that rarely had the lead. 10.5 sacks the season before.

If he is released we should be all over it.

He's still an incredible pass rusher IF he can stay healthy, but that's a big "if."

I'd stay away- between him and Merriman, it's just relying too much on two guys who haven't proven they can be healthy.

Age 32 is shot??? While Bruce Smith was an all time great, he had 84 sacks after the age of 32. Freeny will not do that, but if he plays 3-5 more years and get's half that, and I think he will, thats pretty good. Sign me up. At this point, I would consider him a much better option than Merriman.

Why is that a big "if"? The last big injury he had was the ligament tear in his ankle in 2009. He has been a pretty durable player throughout his career. Comparing him to Merriman, who has been a china doll the last 5 years, is ridiculous.

Freeney can rush the passer, and the guy still has something left in the tank. He could help a lot of teams.

If the Raiders were to cut Kamerion Wimbley he'd be a guy I'd pursue as give us a SLB and add some pass rush. Yet had we kept with the 3-4 be an even better fit.
