    More realistic defensive help

I know Manning is pie in the sky. Mario is a dream on a best day. But Wimbley is realistic and he sure can help, may fit what Buddy has been saying the 2nd tier guy for a need position.

Now this is a guy we should be going after hard on day one.

Nix wanted a guy who wins one on one match ups and is about 6'4 250-260. Also not old.

Wimbley is 6'4 255 and still only 28. Has 16 sacks over the last 2 years plus 140 tackles which is great for a DE.

The Raiders are scrambling to keep him. They just cleared over $11 million in cap space by restructuring deals:

Doesn't he play OLB in a 3-4 defense? Has he ever played with his hand to the ground as a DE, or OLB in a 4-3?

He was a 3-4 OLB in Cleveland but he never really broke out in that position. The Raiders traded for him and played him with his hand in the ground as a DE and he performed.

9 sacks in his first year, 7 last year. On a better DL he can do more.

If he can indeed play DE, then I'd go after him for sure. Instant upgrade.

I could see this happening. He's the right age, 28, and seems to have the size and enough length that Nix is looking for. I say make him an offer.

Would be a solid addition but he'd have to play LDE, Kelsay's spot.

Why does he have to play LDE?
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Because Mario Williams is going to play RDE?

                      Exactly!

Not sure he has what it takes to beat LT consistently, better on the left side. I mean he doesn't have to play on the left but he'd probably be more effective. Also has some decent coverage skills, so if he drops on a zone blitz better to have him buzzing over the TE than your best pass rusher who is usually playing over the LT.

ESPN.com's Bill Williamson reports that the Raiders have not spoken to the agent for linebacker Kamerion Wimbley "in several days," and are expected to release their top edge rusher barring a "major change."

Wimbley doesn't seem interested in restructuring his deal, and even with other guys doing so, the Raiders are still in trouble with the cap.
I think he hits FA, and soon, tbh. I can't say I blame him with the current state of change at the Raiders. One way or another, he will get paid.

He's better of being cut & getting a huge contract from a new team, they're not even talking so you can stick a fork in it.

Wimbley plays SAM and RE at Oakland. Quite well actually, because he could put his hand in dirt on 3rd down.
