This game will start March 13th 4pm (deadline for guess is 3/13 4pm.........player must be signed AFTER FA begins, so if you want to predict Peyton Manning (or any other released player), that's fine but he must sign AFTER FA begins

You must predict player and contract details (yrs, base, guaranteed money, total value)

If you correctly predict position and/or contract details....you have a chance as well

I will be eligible for this game and will make my prediction by Sunday midnight

Win: 400,000
Place: 250,000
Show: 125,000

I will be the judge and jury :thurm2:

Either one of 2 guys. I say either Jared Gaither, b/c we need another solid Offensive Tackle besides Hairston. Or, and my pick to be there 1st signing is Paul Soliai. He's a space eater, and hopefully the start of some guys that can stop the ****ing run!!

Wallace Gilberry, DE UFA KC Chiefs. Contract details: 3 years, $1 million base. $5 million guaranteed, total value $11 million.

I know everyone is like who? He racked just 2.5 sacks last year but in 2010 he racked up 7.0 and keep in mind he played 158 fewer snaps in 2011. In 2009 he had 4.5 sacks. I'll admit he won't let anyone forget about Aaron Schobel but I think at the very least he can be used as a back up Right DE which I can't say we have now and doesn't force us to take a DE in Round 1 if Coples isn't available. Toss in Bills MO in free agency is typically signing backups with hopes of improved stats with more play he seems a perfect fit.

From a Cheifs fan site on evaluating his play from 2010: http://arrowheadaddict.com/2011/02/01/chiefs-roster-evaluation-wallace-gilberry/

The Kansas City Chiefs have a problem in DE Wallace Gilberry.

Gilberry is good. He is really good, in fact. The problem is that he is playing in the wrong defense.

We’re going to break from our traditional roster evaluation format here a bit today in talking about Gilberry. We’ll of course evaluate Wallace as we have with the others but we are skipping the whole ascending player part. Gilberry is an ascending starter in the NFL, there is no doubt about it. Unfortunately in 2010, he was used as a reserve.

Where Gilberry fell short this year was in his run defense. That brings us back to the fact that Gilberry is playing in the wrong defense. He is just too undersized to be a full time, effective DE in a 3-4 defense. Jared Allen is 270 pounds and Gilberry is 278.

He should be playing DE in a 4-3 defense. He has grown so much as a pass rusher that he could probably be an excellent pass rushing specialist, similar to Allen, in the right scheme.

Here's some links th some predraft profiles: http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/wallace-gilberry?id=1332 and http://www.footballsfuture.com/2008/prospects/wallace_gilberry.html http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=1406

Not interested in guessing the contract, but I'll go with Martellus Bennett. I think that the Bills recognize the value that Chandler offers (obviously with the new contract), but I think they also know that if they are to have a high level of success on offense, they'll need a TE that can stretch the field. Bennett never lived up to his potential in Dallas, but he was also never afforded the opportunity. He's a true every down TE that can cause issues for defenses through the air, but is also one of the better run blocking TE's in the league.

Predict the contract as you think it will be structured

Is structure based on paid years or years that we could pay him? I'm still baffled how an option year can be considered a contract year in length, regardless if they put one dollar towards an option it's still not an assured payable year for a player.

Why are you baffled, this is easy. It's because the agent can go around saying "I just got so and so a 60 million dollar contract" instead of "I just got so and so a 48 million dollar contract"

Marketing fluff.

96 million base (not average per year)
