Merriman was worth it just for his FA efforts.

"Hey VJ, come to Buffalo! If you rack up sacks in pre-season then spend the whole season sitting in a hot tub, they'll give you a contract extension!"

No one is coming to B-lo to play with a washed up player like Merriman. Cheerleading only gets you so much.

I thought Merriman's contract was up this past season... goes to show how insignificant he's been as a Bill...

He might not have made sacks but he set the edge and qbs always seemed to throw it a split sec before he got there

Our run d and qb pressuse dropped off after he went down

Our D was worse when Merriman went down with injury last year. He may not have registered sacks but he did other things right IMO, like set the edge and hold it.

I 100% agree with you both, but not being on the field has been a huge issue. He sealed the edge, no one ran his way, and he's a monster, but if he's not on the field there's no knowing the man.

I think Merriman will be good for us and see the field all season. I have a feeling about him this coming season

Well, we're not keeping eight receivers, and who the hell is 'Nyce'?

VJax, SJ13, DNel, Nyce, and 2nd to 5th round WR.

I'd flip.

They'll keep Ruvell Martin for his STs play. A WR could then be drafted in the low rds and placed in the PS.

I have some outside hope for Easley coming back HEALTHY and getting some time in at the #3 - #5 WR slots

I really hope they find somebody to replace him that can bring a bigger contribution to his primary position. He's just a waste of a roster spot.

Why? 5th WR isn't supposed to make alot of contributions on regular plays. They are more for STs. And I thought he played adequately in STs... B'cse we had numerous injuries at the WR position last yr shouldn't reflect badly on him not contributing effectively. He's a #5 WR. Go down 5 WRs on any team and you'll get someone of similar caliber to him.

From a WR standpoint only, we've already got at least 5 or 6 guys better than him, and from the sounds of it we're planning on adding 1 or two more from FA and/or the draft. You already mentioned the injuries we've had in the past and IMO the fifth guy needs to be able to at least catch when called upon.

I would just rather fill a roster spot with a guy that can play WR (or CB, or S...whatever) when needed and also fill the role Martin does on ST's.

If we can upgrade him, great. But it wouldn't be something I would focus on atleast until our #2 hole was patched. Out of all the other WRs we have on the roster, how many play "good" STs? Not many...for now, he fills a role.

There's a kid from Chicago that is going to be a FA, and made the ProBowl as a STer. Fills a need at CB depth (he's had experience starting), ST's, and frees up a spot for another WR (Aiken, Clowney?). That's the direction we should go, IMO.

If mario goes to chicago, and wash is out because of cap space, it will be between us and tampa....

tampa- young qb with upside, great weather....
bills- more established qb, merriman, nix...

roto is saying we will be going hard after him right at 401pm
