View Full Version : Rumor: Bills offering Mario

$14.5-$15 mil a year with 45mil in guarantees.

Just heard it on sports radio here. It was the tail end but I believe he said 6 years. Local broadcast here in the New Orleans area. Said Bills are far and away front runner, they have the cash to outbid almost anyone (assuming they are willing). Says only way mario doesnt sign here is if he simply chooses not to. Said he heard early Ralph essentially told the FO "spend it all".

Sorry typing as I go here.

Said Bills are dead set on pass rusher and if they are unable to get Mario signed in next 24 hours look for them to reach out to Abraham.

As a side note, they were doing a team by team thing, said Nicks could very well stay in NO.

Yeah I mean I put Rumor before it for that, this is by no means concrete. Only reason I posted it was because it seems to be inline with whats been out there.

I have to believe if Mario is in Buffalo right now the Bills knew what he was expecting and were willing to pony up.

First word of me hearing Mario was coming to town, that was the first thing I thought of. If we land him with a big money deal, no more cheap rap.

Beyond excited right now. I say if we sign him grab Chandler Jones or someone like that in the 2nd or 3rd round and let these guys do work. Take a tackle in the first and no more excuses this team can compete with that roster.

IF we sign Meachem and Williams, those 2 spots would be filled by players who will be here for awhile.

IMO We wouldn't want to do that. We could use that #10 on a LT or the best CB in the draft because there is a chance that could happen for us.

DE in the 2nd rd has great value and could be used as high quality depth./obvious Passing downs ...

"I would be very surprised if Mario Williams' visit ends in anything other than a press conference."

Michael Lombardi seemed to echo that sentiment (citing others around the league, as well).

Fred/Byrd/Levitre FA's next year, Wood the following, hope we can keep at least 4 of them while making this signing.

Lot of money to throw at one guy, hope it doesn't kill the chances of resigning others.

On the Buffalo News 'billboard' there's a post by Mark Gaughan that basically says the Bills (according to a league source) are prepared to make Mario the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. Quite what that means numbers wise, god only knows, but they are pretty much 'all in' on Mario it would seem.

I don't know where i read it some time back, if it was something someone said on here, or on bbmb, but it was a poster that said they had heard that Williams was being viewed as potentially a Cornelius Bennett type of impact signing - if he was going to become available.

I just read on Profootballtalk.com per Gaughan, the Bills are offering to make Williams the highest paid defensive player in the NFL, offering more than the $91.5 Mill the Bears signed Peppers for.

There are like over 1,000 or so madly positive comments on this story, and you, my friend, finally become the first one that has to be negative. ARe you ****ing kidding me?? HOw could you be anything but creaming your pants right now. We've suffered for 15+ years w/ nothing but average or below average talent, and just when our team is about to step up, and be a legit playoff contender, you gotta pull the "say goodbye to Fred Jackson" comment.

I am a very nice guy, and rarely ever sound off to other posts, but this kind of posting is a crock of ****!!!

I hope you're not always this negative, and if you are, please go somewhere else...

So McCargo was drafted by us the same year Mario went #1. They played on the same line at NC State. Think McCargo will give us a ringing endorsement? Lol

fyi, Manny Lawson was also on that same line and drafted the same year. He is now also a FA

So, Larry Fitzgerald sucks because Tyler Palko sucks?

Am I taking this the wrong way?

Gotta give the Bills credit for stepping up and offering the kind of contract needed to get the deal done.

I guess they found a hotel to put him up in as well, maybe even one that Brady's dad would approve. LOL.

I was going a different direction with it. First that it's ironic and second that McCargos career here was rocky. Just wonder if they talk.
