I am still confident we get this deal done. If Mario walks it hurts ticket sales, it hurts the locker room and the fan base.

All the hype around his arrival and with the rest of the league watching the Bills can not swing and miss here. I believe this will simply be open your wallet and let him take was he wants. I dont think any dollar amount would be worse than him not signing.

It will get done.

lol @ mrbojanglezs. Agreed Bedard. It would have been better for him not to come at all.

If Williams walks the Bills will have to vastly overpay for second tier free agents and the decade long cycle of ineptitude would continue.

Is it obvious? People are acting like the sky has already fallen, just trying to re-install some confidence.

If the reports are true they already opened the wallet. Someone posted last night that they offered him 6 years at $15 million per with $45 million guaranteed. No one else is going to offer him that much- there are only a handful of teams with enough cap space to do it and I don't believe any of them are the ones interested him at the moment.

I'm not really sure they can open the wallet any more than that. If Williams doesn't come here, it's about more than just money, which means Bedard is right: it will be a huge blow to the franchise, and it will be indicative of much larger problems in the organization.

This message board is bi-polar.

About 24 hours ago, everyone was talking as if we'd already signed Mario Williams.

About 20 hours ago, I got slammed for telling people to relax because nothing had happened yet and it was all just talk.

About 10 hours ago, half the board was ready to jump off a bridge.

If the signing doesn't happen, they'll jump. If the signing does happen, they'll be pre-ordering their Super Bowl Champions gear.

Typical reaction of fans.

I can also say listening to the KW interview on WGR, I have no idea what he said that is giving fans any kind of faith. He said almost nothing of note.

red and blue colored glasses. People are looking for any sign to confirm their hopes rather than processing what is actually being said.

And 24 hours before that no one thought there was a snowballs chance in hell that we would even go after him, let alone convince him to get in the plane and come to Buffalo.

As Bills fans, we are always looking for that smallest glimmer of hope - only to have it slammed in our faces.

Until yesterday, I think most of us believed that our organization wasn't making a 100 percent effort to bring in the best players and make us a winner. I think most of us believed that we weren't going to have a real chance until Ralph Wilson was out of the picture. Our hope was that then a staff "could" emerge that changes the winning culture in Buffalo.

Yesterday surprised everyone, seeing that Buddy Nix was ready to go after the top free agent (with the exception of Manning) of the entire class. It gave us hope that we suddenly had a front office trying to WIN.

But if Mario Williams signs with another team after being offered that kind of money from us (just like Tyson Clabo last year) - that means that NO top free agent will EVER consider coming here.

Just like Bill Cowher and Mike Shanahan proved that no top coach would consider coming here.

It doesn't mean that, if Williams doesn't sign that just means that Williams didn't want to come here and to tell you the truth we don't want those types of players. If he is serious about football and his life doesn't revolve around partying then there is no reason why he would want to be here. The money will be there and the chance to help return a franchise to glory is there. We want players that will accept that challenge, not ones worrying about the nightlife in Buffalo.

As far a Cowher and Shanahan go, Cowher isn't coaching and thankfully we didn't get Shanahan!

I've still got my fingers crossed. time to look at Kamerion Wimbley if Williams leaves.
I hope if we get wimbley instead that he outperforms Williams for the next 4 years.

No, Cowher proved that a man whose wife is dying of cancer shouldn't take an NFL head coaching job.

but really i cant imagine having a much better combo than chan/pornstachio. i mean we got both an offensive and defensive wizard running those units. you can also say dehaven is an elite st coach, illegal lateral notwithstanding. its hard to think you could possibly have a better three way combo than that. add in nixwhaley and its almost surely the best front office in bills history
