I just read this on another board so I thought Id share it with all of you, this was as big a shock to me as is it probably is to you:

He was on The Best Damn Sports show and said that he thinks the Bills will be the surprise team this year. He also said the move of getting rid of Peerless Price to let Josh Reed play was a smart decision. Cox also stated that in his own opinion, Eric Moulds is the BEST WR in the game.

When asked for a Super Bowl predection, his answer was:
Buffalo Bills vs. Minnesota Vikings.

:hail: Brian Cox

:gobills:

I think Brian Cox is trying to curse us. He's still mad about the whole Carwell Gardner (or who ever it was on our team that chased him onto the team bus when he was a dolphin) stuff from 8 years ago.

The Vikings? Was he serious?

Yeah...it was Carwell. It was the second-to-last game of the 95 season and Thurman had just clinched the game (and the division) by getting a first down by running over Bryan Cox. Cox got pissed and Carwell took him on. They were both tossed and Bryan was spitting at the fans all the way into the tunnel. Carwell tried to get into the Fish locker room after that. :snicker:

Carwell was one down mofo - we should bring him back - you know for a "Terry Tate - Office Linebacker" "motivator".

I just thought it was funny, because Brian Cox tried to act like a bad@$$ when he was on the field, and in pads and helmet, but after they were all dressed in street clothes he ran like a coward.

A LB running from a FB - isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

Carwell was as big as, or bigger than, Cox...and rather than talk trash, he dished it out. :D

Brian Cox was right when he said it was a good descision to dump Price for Reed. Thanks to the Price deal we also got McGahee, thanks Atlanta.

Now as for a Superbowl, I think we may be a little premature in saying so, but hell it sure would be good to get there again.

OMG I love Terry Tate! I wish he would come off of summer vacation! I hope Rebok brings him back!

As much as i would love to have faith in Brian Cox's football predictions, but theres NO WAY Minnesota will the super bowl and have a real slim chance of making the playoffs.

Their OL is weak, their DL is weak, their DB are weak, their QB makes tons of mistakes, their running game is suspect and Randy Moss will play 110% is 8 games and 60% in the other games.

I couldn't agree w/ you more Demon!! You sure know your Vikes as well!

I'd be feeling a little bit better if Cox had predicted Bills v. Philly or Bucs. Selecting the Vikes, who only beat one team w/ more than 9 wins last season, and who also have a relatively tough schedule, makes me think he was on ludes at the time he predicted this!

At least we addressed our largest shortcoming by signing Adams and picked up Spikes. Our O is by far-and-away better than the Vikes, and while the Vikes D will likely be vastly improved thru merely the signings of Colvin, and draftees EJ Henderson and Williams, their O is still woefully inadequate and as Demon says, their OL is weak, their DL is very young, and their secondary blows! Running game is suspect as well. No way on earth they even win their division at better than .500. They may back into it due to having a depleted Pack and crap Chicago and Detroit teams in it. It's the "anti-AFCE"! LOL

If the Vikes are in the superbowl, I'll eat mild wings for a year!

I just looked at their schedule and the Vikes will be lucky to be .500 this year.

Super Bowl, schmuper bowl!

I can salivate at the prospects of Drew hooking up with Moulds and Reed against Kenny Irvin in the Super Bowl.

You know what I think it was? I think he just randomly picked Minnesota just because they are the other team to lose 4 superbowls and he just trying to be funny and patronizing. He might think Buffalo has a shot, but Minnesota is absurd. He would probably love to see this match up because he is sadistic and wants to see an NFL team lose a fifth superbowl, and with this matchup it would be guaranteed. But it would definately be Minnesota to be the team to lose the fifth one, because Buffalo is much better!

The Vikings could very well go to the SuperBowl.. They were on a roll ending the season and dont be surprised if it carries on.. as for Minnesota's run game being "suspect".. That's worse than "Bull*****".. Minnesota finished with the ebst run game in the NFL last year.. They also have Randy Moss and a very capable break out WR in Derrick Alexander.. Vikings offense is better than the Bils offense..
As for the Vikings defense.. They have Hovan in the Middle of the line along with their first round pick who should be damn good and Bromell and Mixon at the ends which do make a solid D-line who I believe was in the top 5 in run defense last year.. I may be wrong on that.. At LB, they have Biekert, Chris Claiborne picked up from Lions who is a hell of a player, 2nd round pick E.J Henderson and 3rd or 4th round pick Mike Nattiel who is a very energetic player that should fill in as the pass defending specialist.. As for the secondary, this is still a weakness and maybe the only weakness on this team.. This wil be a good squad and will transfer their late season success into this season..

Darn you beat me to it ;). I agree Vikings are going to be a suprise to a lot of people this season. They got screwed up last year with the Stringer tragedy and not getting a draft pick on the field I believe. They got out of the gate very slowly but they are packed with talent and I believe they are on the upswing and are going to beat some teams this year. Don't think they can make it to the superbowl though. I think it's going to be Philly's year but I sure would like to see us upset them :D.

I'm the one who originally posted this.

Cox did indeed say those things, and mean them. He gave quite a few solid reasons why he likes both teams. Remember the Patriots, Ravens, and Rams. If anyone had predicted them going into the season, he would've gotten the same reactions that you guys are giving over the Vikes. The Vikes made several lower profile FA signings, and finished last season on a strong run. Not that I agree with it, but I understand Cox's logic in the pick.

Another note:
BCox said that he loved what the Bills did on D, especially TKO, but said that the biggest thing the Bills did to improve their D was sign Dick Lebeau. He said that Lebeau's schemes gave all those teams(that Cox played for) fits. Cox says Dick will be a great fit in there. (Hehe).
