Don't think people really knew the exact numbers even before Mario was signed, doubt we know it now.

The thing is, we had some cap room but not a ton (not like the Bucs). I have a feeling the Bills will be using tricks to stay under the cap that they don't normally use.

Since they had Meachem in town, they probably have enough to sign another decent contract. Somewhere in the range of 5 million per year.

Kam Wimbley? Perhaps Lofton? Awesome.

Its up in the air, we've heard anywhere from 30 to low 20's before Mario, assume 16 of that is gone now. Still need room for rookies.

Need rookie money and also need to extend our own (Byrd, Levitre)...

Now... my question is, these players under contract such as Kevin Brock, David Clowney, Jarron Gilbert, Scott McKillop, Prince Miller, Fendi Onobun, Jay Ross, and Jake Vermiglio... do we free up space when the fat is cut from these 8th stringers?

i am sure they front loaded a ton into this years salary cap. Its probably the main reason they rolled space over from last year.

Won't even be able to guess until we see some more specific numbers.

Not nearly enough to even attempt to fill the other holes on the team, that's for sure.

25 million in signing bonus and 53 total in the first 3 years. i figured it was front loaded heavily.

25 mil signing bonus divided by 6 year pro-ration (4.16 million) + his base, LTBE should give us an idea in NFL cap terms. I'm assuming his cap hit this year will approach at most 8-10 million, because they need around 10 million for draft picks AND re-sign Levitre and/or Byrd and Fred. Just spit-balling though.

That $25 million could be signing bonus, guaranteed salary, roster bonus...........let's wait for a better breakdown of the deal...........it won't be long

According to a league source, $24.9 million of that is fully guaranteed at the time of signing with an additional $14.5 million, that is guaranteed for injury only right now, becoming fully guaranteed on the second day of the 2013 league year.

Those figures are comprised by a $19 million signing bonus, $5.9 million base salary in 2012 and an $8 million option bonus with a $6.5 million base salary in 2013. Williams also has workout bonuses of $100,000 in 2012 and $500,000 in 2013 to bring his two-year cash payout to $40 million.

Looks like if I did my math right 9.8 Million dollar cap hit for this year.

Yes, based off those numbers cap is $9.8M in 2012 and 12.4M in 2013. Cash is $25M in 2012 and $15M in 2013.

Bills reportedly had about $23M in cap room entering the free agent period, so they should have over $13M left.

2013: $12.4M
2014: $18.4M
2015: $19M
2016: $19.9M
2017: $20.3M

Cash:

2012: $25M

2014: $13M
2015: $13.6M

Looks like the Bills took into account the new TV money kicking in in 2014.

More then I thought some cuts the Bill's can sign a Wimbley type of player ty friend. And have enough for draft barely tho.

Those are some large cap numbers later on. I think you're right, Icky, as I heard that after next year the cap #'s should rise significantly.

Under the current contract, the NFL pulled over $3.085B per year in TV money.

the new contract, which covers 2014 - 2022, will require payment of almost $4.95B per year. The league also has some additional broadcast revenues through NFL network that are not covered by this agreement, so it will be higher.

So yeah, starting in 2014 there will be a huge jump in revenue and thus large growth in the cap. On average, expect it to be about 1/3rd more over those years.

Yeah, well, I have no idea what their budget is. Whatever it is, $25M goes to Williams this year.

Keep in mind when thinking cash. they have more than 53 players on the roster. So, the amount of cash allocated will depend on what players they end up keeping.

Buffalo had $37.7 million in "cash space" under the adjusted cap of $133.9 million when free agency opened, according to the latest News calculations. Cash spending counts the actual money paid out during the fiscal year, without amortizing bonuses. Teams use it as a more accurate way to track player costs, or a "salary-discipline" tool. Meanwhile, cap spending is the accounting method the NFL uses, which allows for amortization of bonuses, and which is designed to keep a relatively level playing field among teams.

The Bills took advantage of as much cap space as they could. Now their cash room is down to about $12.9 million, by News calculations. That saves cash space for future years.
