View Full Version : Where to go with the draft?

I may be the minority but my thinking is that you can still go DE in the 1st round. My thoughts are I would rather make 1 area dominant for several years then make a bunch of stuff slightly better. Obviously you don't reach but if there is stud there, you could take him. I know this is a bit early considering FA isn't over and some of the holes could be filled but... Any thoughts?

there isnt a de there that fits the value of 10. nix has repeated this twice now...

its LT, or cb... i think with nixs history of drafting corners, we take kirk... nix has stated there are 2 corners worth the pick at 10...

I didn't hear him say that. I heard him say he wasn't sure there was. Could be smoke screening. Wouldn't be the first time. I would be happy with another corner though.

BPA, period. Depending on how the first 9 picks go, obviously, one of the positions mentioned by Night Train will fit that bill.

No, I'd be ok with Claiborne, but I feel like Kirkpatrick would be a big reach at 10, IMO

That doesn't mean much considering the number of potential first rounders they have.

and nix said that our secondary got a lot better today because we got MW.

in the end the bills are better with a second tier smart CB as depth than adding another rookie.

I like OLB, DE, WR or day one starter on the OL as our first pick.

our biggest weakness now is LBs and OL core.

It does depend if we sign anybody else in FA and I wouldn't be surprised seeing them sign a good wr and/or LT. jonathan Martin seems like a no-brainer, though. You win is this league with your o-line and d-line. getting cute and drafting skill in rd 1 hasn't worked. Fred Jackson UFA, Sj 7th rd, Nelson UFA, our TE - 4th round (i think). Wood and Levitre (1st and 2nd), our two guards (3rd rd). Granted Bell as a 7th.

I know, I'm not saying we're not gonna draft a cb. In fact, I think there's a very good chance we do. I justly don't want to.

I just think Cb isn't as big of a need now that we may actually have some kind of a pass rush.

I wouldn't be shocked if they still go DE in 1st or 2nd.

Nick Perry or Vinny Curry opposite M Williams with K Williams and M Dareus? Yes please.

He's not going to give his real thoughts on what position they like at #10.

Even if he did, that doesn't mean he doesn't like a pass rusher if they move back :D

but BPA is the way to go!!!!!

WR its gotta be a WR

BertSquirtgum
03-16-2012, 12:29 AM
Best player available unless it's a running back. I feel like the BPA is going to be Michael Floyd and that's who I want the Bills to draft. Although, I wouldn't be upset with the Bills taking Coples if he is still available.

Best player available unless it's a running back.

I think that sums it up right there....the best available based on our need. When pick 10 comes around Nix will 'stack'em and rack'em' based on what he thinks the best production value is regardless of postion....so if he thinks WR is stronger at 10 and then there is a substantial drop-off he'll take a WR......if he thinks OLB at 10 has more value and he can get a WR in the second round that produces then he'll flip to that. Since the WR crop is pretty deep this year, I think he waits until the 2nd round to draft one.

If we take a WR it's either Wright or Blackmon, I'd probably take Wright over Blackmon because he can get open deep with ease.

To be honest, I'd love another pass rusher if we could somehow land a LT.

If we don't get a good partner for a trade down for more picks, Jonathan Martin LT out of Stanford makes the most sense at 10. JMO

That's not true. Late afternoon yesterday they had him on WGR and he said that if there's a DE they like available at #10, they won't even hesitate. He said getting Mario has freed them from drafting on a needs basis and he will take BPA throughout the entire draft!!!

My 1st rd choices I'd like would probably be:

WR Blackmon (too unrealistic)
DE Coples
WR Floyd
LT Reiff

If these are all taken...then it depends, it may mean that someone else unexpectedly fell. But if not...maybe...OLB Melvin Ingram.

Those would be my choices. But I think Nix might go:

WR Blackmon (too unrealistic)
WR Floyd
LT Reiff
DE Coples

Sign Marcus Mcneil and then go best WR or CB...whichever is higher on the board

This is a pipe dream, but would it be possible for Buffalo to trade down, acquire more picks, and then use the lower first rounder that they traded for to acquire Mike Wallace? Do any of you draft guru's know how that works? Does it have to be your original slotted pick that is awarded to a team for a RFA? Also, I'm guessing their is obviously probably a deadline in which teams can sign a RFA...meaning the trade down would likely have to be done well before the draft (which is unlikely since teams will typically try to "feel out" who is still available during the draft and whether or not they want to move up at that time.

Just curious.
