Peyton Manning to workout for John Elway today

Moments after we noted that the Broncos' plane is on the way to North Carolina, where Peyton Manning has been working out, we know why: John Elway will be there in person to watch one of Manning's workouts.

I think Manning has seen enough of Mario, he won't sign with the Fins.

Any deterrent to Manning coming to the AFC East is a good thing.

Manning seems to be an idiot. And a greedy one at that. Who, after several neck surgeries may be one good lick away from a terrible future life, would even consider suiting up again?

Directv isn't going to re-up his contract without him on the field.

Mike Alstott had similar surgery & continued to play. As a power back his neck was subjected to much more than Manning will be. When the vertebra are fused together, the neck is as strong as it was. The question with Manning is the nerves that go to the arm

He's not going to the dolphins so fear not. I'm down here and there is no shot. Ross was on one tip, Ireland another, and Philbin a third. Manning sees right through that and isn't interested. In fact, it probably was never really an option.

                  Good for Alstott.

I wouldn't roll dice that may come up with me ending up in a chair or using a mouth stick. If I had to do it to support my family and keep them from having to scour a dumpster for food - well, yes.

If I had millions and millions worth of jingle rolling around in my pockets?

No way. If I did that, I should be put into an asylum under 24 hour psychiatric care...

Re: Peyton Manning to workout for John Elway today

i'm with stuckincincy on this one.

i work an office job. if i had multiple neck surgeries, i'd take my time coming back. like i'd take a full year.

and if i was a qb who was widely regarded as the best ever, won the superbowl, beat my nemisis, had a brother getting into his prime, had a personality that is made for a life after football and feel pretty good and know my arm isn't what it used to be, i think i'd walk out.

the thing is that manning's neck never got hurt because of one play (to my knowledge). it was from years of this. you jump in there, its going to get worse because you are subjecting yourself to the same punishment that got you there.

and you are telling me if the colts "let's go young and new" experiment fails, that irsay won't throw a lot of money for the PR move of making Manning GM?

if i wrote the pros and cons on a sheet of paper and was honest withmyself at 36, i'm leaving the game. even going to a new team and winning it all doesn't mean my detractors are going to be like, "nope we got it wrong....now he's the best QB ever."

I seriously am starting to not like Manning. Im happy Eli won the superbowl, but Manning still steals the show for 2012

Manning is far from an idiot, he is very bright. He is under the care of the world's best specialists, you can be sure they would not clear him to play if they felt he was at high risk. Every player is one bad shot away from paralysis, his surgery puts him no closer than anyone else. It's all about the nerve regenerating fully. I would put my faith in those doctors and their advice, what are your credentials to make the statement that he is an idiot?

Well - I read your post. That should qualify me.

If I have a serious gash on my forearm, blood draining out of me, I should do nothing - because I do not have doctor credentials?

Well no you go see a doctor (which was what Peyton did) and you follow their instructions (also what Peyton did). His neck is cleared medically speaking.

You say "medically speaking." Could you expand on that phrase?
