Does Spencer Johnson get cut today?

He has a $500K roster bonus that will be paid unless he is cut by 4 PM today. Additionally, his base salary is $3M.

By cutting him, the bills could save $3.5M against the cap. He would count as $500K in dead money.

Johnson started 11 games last year, but one would think that he will be a backup DT in the Bills 4-3 defense. Though Wanny likes to rotate his big guys to keep them fresh, one would think the Bills would at least approach Johnson about a pay-cut. If he refuses, they probably could cut him.

If he doesn't get cut today, one would think the Bills are going to keep him. Why pay $500K to cut him later?

Dwan is the better player. Sp.Johnson has done nothing in the two schemes he has played with us.

nope. The bills think very highly of him as mentioned by Russ Brandon in his interview.

his salary doesn't put them in cap trouble. He'll make good depth going back to the 4-3.

I like Spencer at DE a hell of a lot more than at OLB. He's a good backup, IMO. Dwan as well. I don't know if the Bills will find better depth in free agency. If they plan on drafting a DE early, that's another story.

The Bills like Spencer. I don't' see the Bills cutting anyone before camp

I dunno what some people see in Spencer Johnson, but I see a player who's done absolutely nothing as a Buffalo Bill.

He's making twice as much as Fred Jackson. It's pathetic.

Dwan is a very hard working DL. He makes a ton of tackles. I would prefer him to Sp.Johnson.

I see both he and Dwan getting cut. Neither is a good fit for the current alignment, no reason to keep them.

Well you have Moats and Batten who you can move to DE, Carrington is a 43 DE as well. So right there you have three other guys.
