All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host. Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.

Compensatory Pick in 2012?

Bills lost Poz and Whitner

Bills gained Thigpen, B. Smith, and Morrison

Players released and signed do not qualify (Barnett)

Morrison was on a 1 yr deal and likely does NOT qualify in the compensation formula

THUS

Since No. of UFAs gained = No. of UFAs lost you must take contract into account. The contract totals for UFAs lost (Poz/Whitner)> UFAs gained (B. Smith/Thigpen) thus Bills will likely be eligible for a "net value" lost comp pick. Those are usually assigned in the 7th rd

I predict Bills get a 7th rd pick as compensation

I got my information the THE expert, AdamJT13 via e-mail.........not sure if he's doing the entire comp prediction write up this year though.

He did a post a few months ago Clump that said we weren't going to get one, but hadn't included the value of Whitner's deal at the time. Good update!

I remember a certain draft expert claiming that we wouldn't get a comp pick too. I think there are enough millions between the players that the Bills will get at least a 7th, I was thinking a 5th or 6th and it was the Poz deal that will do it.

No, I think you recall me posting an article from MTD saying we wouldn't get one. I don't predict comp picks.

Comp picks are assigned at the owners meetings which are going on right now. We should find out all the picks this week.

Doesn't it take into account that Whitner was a 1st round pick, and Poz was a 2nd? Or does that only matter in baseball.

It's a pity signing Thigpen likely cost us a valuable comp pick. For all he played we could have signed anyone to be backup QB.
