Mark Anderson Contract Lower Than Originally Reported

This was posted on twitter today and has gone under the radar....

Free-agent defensive end Mark Anderson played his way into a giant increase in pay and a big contract when he signed with the Buffalo Bills. It's worth $19.5 million over four years, according to a league document obtained by The News.

That's less than what was attributed to sources in numerous media sites, including The News, last week. Anderson will get $8 million this year and $10.5 million over the first two years of his deal, as was widely reported. Initial reports had the deal totalling $27.5 million.
Anderson, who had 10 sacks for the New England Patriots last season, played on a on-year deal worth $1.37 million in 2011. The four-year average of Anderson's new deal is $4.875 million. He got a $6 million signing bonus plus a guaranteed base salary this year of $1.9 million, and a $100,000 workout bonus. His base salaries in subsequent years are $2.5 million, $4 million and $5 million.

In a strange turn of events for an even stranger off-season, The Buffalo Bills won the first pick of the NFL draft in NBA lottery fashion even though the NFL didn't actual conduct the draft differently.

No one can explain this weird phenomenon but Roger Goodell has gone on record stating "We don't know how it happened or can't figure what exactly happened, but it happened.... so we are just going to roll with it. I'm sure Pringles didn't expect to make potato chips until the first shipment of rubber showed up as a container full of potatoes. So $!%* it, Let's cut up some chips!"

Mr. Wilson sounds like a good name for a neighbor, he was cheap as well.

Wow, this off-season just keeps getting better and better. Even though he's more of a situational pass rusher than an every down DE, that's a steal for a guy who's capable for 7-10 sacks a year.

I think those are lofty expectations. Anderson is more of a 4-7 sack guy in my eyes. Yes he had 10 last year and 12 as a rookie but both those years he was predominately a specialist. If the reports of him playing more running downs this year are true we better temper our expectations.

I think that the chances of him meeting 10 a year are greater here than any previous stop. While he had a pretty stout DL round him his rookie year, he had nothing like he has now. I think that he may start the season playing on running downs, but a running down DE he is not, that won't last long.

He's going to have a the best years in BUFFALO with the line that we have he's going to have 15.5 sacks this year and 5.5 sacks in the playoffs. 2012/13

That's pretty much the deal that sportrac posted

                          http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/mark-anderson/ <table style="width: 514px; height: 90px;" class="salaryTable" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><thead><tr class="salaryRow"><td class="header salaryYear"> </td> <td

A current summary of Buffalo Bills 2024 player cap & cash figures.

Base Salary S. Bonus Misc. Bonus Cap Hit
                          2012 1,900,000 1,500,000 100,000 3,500,000
                          2013 2,400,000 1,500,000 600,000 4,500,000
                          2014 3,900,000 1,500,000 600,000 6,000,000
                          2015 4,900,000 1,500,000 600,000 7,000,000

8 million guaranteed, under $13 million for 1st 2 years... I believe in 2014 new TV money kicks in so salary cap takes a jump.

the way this is structured they basically got him for around 8 million this season and 2.5 next season. the last 2 years are up to him the way the contract is structured. If he performs the bills will pick up the 3rd and 4th year options if not he is easy to cut and next year his 2.5 million salary is a bargain.
