I never understood, from a business standpoint, why AIM was free. If you can get the instant messanger for free, why would anyone need AOL? There's nothing on AOL you cant find on the internet.
But hey, I'm glad they did give it out for free :)

AIM has to be free, because if it isn't, we'd all use MSN, or Yahoo, or ICQ...or all four if you're me. :D

I never lose my temper over the phone unless I'm talking to someone at AOL. I urge anyone who uses it to change service RIGHT NOW. I called them a couple of months ago to cancel my daughter's free trial as her PC was broken. The girl says "don't worry, you don't have to pay and we'll give you another month free incase you get her PC fixed." I agreed, and she told me to call back on July 5th if it wasn't and if I still wanted to cancel. I called back on July 5th and cancelled, the PC was still broken. I was told "no problem, no charge."
Yesterday I got my statement in and found out I was charged $23.90 on July 9th. I called again. I got an arrogant twit on the phone who pretty much told me I needed to call 24 hrs ahead of the last day to cancel, and when I asked to talk to a manager he said they'll tell you the same thing. Of course he tried the standard line of "We can give you 3 months free, I'm not supposed to do that, but I will." I said I didn't want the 3 months, and asked him "Does this mean you won't let me speak to a manager?" er, er, ok, hold on, he says...
Manager? No, supervisor gets on the phone with a condescending tone, interupting me every 2 seconds. I asked, "Is it possible for you to listen to me and let me finish what I'm saying without you interupting me?" She's like, I'm not, I'm just aknowledging you. I said "Don't, just listen." silence...finally...so I continue to tell her there was no mention of my having to pay for a month of service, nothing about calling 24 hrs ahead of time, etc... She wouldn't budge, but she said it was 72 hrs, not 24.
I said, "Let me get this straight, your operator was willing to give me 3 free months even though he wasn't supposed to, but you won't remove the 23.90 from the bill?" Yes, that's right, we won't.
"And you don't mind giving 3 months FREE service valued at 70.00 but you won't take 23.90 off the bill?" That's right, we won't. "And Is it 72 hrs, 24 hrs, or no hrs to call for cancellation?" It's 72 hrs, is there anything else I can help you with?
"Yes, GO F YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!"
So that's what I think about AOL and their service people.

Ally, if you're using all those Instant Messangers, you should download trillian at www.trillian.com
Makes things much simpler. :D

She told me about trillian.
But I'm afraid to use it :couch:

It's easy NBF. One of these nights when you're around and not downloading a bunch of stuff, I'll help you get it running.
