I thought Cade McNown would be the best QB of the 1999 draft. That draft included Daunte Culpepper, Donovan McNabb, and Tim Couch (oh, and Akili Smith lol).

Players I was wrong about off top of my head...

Aaron Curry
Robert Gallery
Glenn Dorsey
Mike Williams (USC WR)
Charles Rogers
LaRon Landry

I definetely thought Byron Leftwich would be the best QB of his class. Thought Broderick Bunkley was going to be a better pro than Haloti Ngata. Im sure there are more but those are the two that immediately stand out to me

i had hoped that joey harrington would be good when he was a lion. i don't know why. i drafted him in the 2nd round for my fantasy team to showcase i was right. that season did not end well for me...that was during my period where i wanted to show everyone how much smarter i was than them by making stupid picks. it coincided with the bills front office doing the same thing.

I'll never forget that draft. It was the afternoon of my buck and doe, and I had it on at the reception area where I was having it. When I heard Donte Whitner, I went "Who?". My buddy's also said "Who?" and laughed.

In recent years, I thought Hardy would be good, I also thought Maybin would be a great developmental player.

Whitner, if you've seen my video, I quite literally said FL said and has to ask my dad who he was. I almost freaked out when we "stole" Kyle Calloway in the 7th. I always had high hopes for Alvin Bowen, and I also have a Ko Simpson T-shirt.

I had high hopes for Coy Wire and Terrance Pennington... we see how that turned out. I truly, TRULY believe that Brad Butler was one of the biggest problems that ever happened to this team. Not the teams fault, not Butler's fault, but one injury turned that line in to swiss pretty quick.

I was hopeful when we got both Lynch and Poz, when the day before we were talking about getting Lynch OR Poz. I always had my doubts about Poz but I thought Lynch was can't miss and that Poz might not be first round material but was a steal in the second round. Oops.

And I was hoping Huff would fall to us the year we ended up with Whitner.

I was so excited about James Hardy when the Bills drafted him. I watched him a bunch in college and thought they had a steal and a perennial pro bowler.

I also thought JP Losman was going to be comparable to John Elway and Steve Young. I wanted the Bills to take him with their first pick in the first round.

Thinking a big WR, 6-2 and 215 lbs, coming off a season in which he had 83 receptions 1245 yards and 9 TDs his final year was going to be a great 1st Round pick. No I'm not referring to Michael Floyd but instead mean D'wayne Bates in 1999.

I was also one calling for Sweed to be our top pick a few years back.

cam newton will be a sucess if he leads the panthers to the playoffs at least within 5 years of his draft

I also was against us drafting Cam Newton. I thought Aaron Maybin had great potential, but I was pissed we didn't draft Orakpo. I thought James Hardy would be great! I really thought he'd be a 1,000 yard receiver, but I was way wrong. I still think Marcus Easley will be good. I thought Shawn Nelson was gonna be the next Kellen Winslow.

Needless to say, I've been wrong alot!!

Vince Young won rookie of the year in his first season. Cam could be good or he could fizzle out, but it's too early to tell I think

Very true. Even Ryan Leaf started out not so bad. But I gotta say man, week 3 I knew I had him completely wrong. I live in Charlotte and was forced to watch a lot of games. The kid just looks so comfortable and in control. I can honestly say that if I got to choose to build my team around any QB in the league currently, or coming out of the draft this year, he would be in my top 3 consideration.

I think you're talking about two extremely different players. Vince got through solely on his athletic ability, Cam Newton on the other hand is a more complete QB. He can throw (much better than Young), he can run, but more importantly, he is both willing and able to learn multiple offenses. Vince Young was coddled from peewee league, all the way to the Tennessee Titans, and once in the NFL was finally exposed for what he is... a less than intellectual being. The stories of UT only having 10-15 plays in their offense has a lot more truth to it than a lot know, that's all that Vince was able to understand.

I remember I was excited for him because he was tall, and we needed red zone help bad. Then I remember seeing his first TD grab, a GREAT catch and yelling "THATS WHY WE DRAFTED HIM!" I never said that again about him...

Before the 2004 draft, I called JP Losman "The next Brett Favre" and I was celebrating when the Bills drafted him. In fact, back then I was a lot more into the draft than I am now & when the Bills were on the clock, I would have my own draft. I hate to admit it now, but at pick 13, I "drafted" JP and when the Cowboys helmet changed to the Bills on ESPN, I started chanting JP, JP ...

Newton was a huge shocker to me. Randall Cunningham came to mind.

Of the many I missed was Hardy. I really thought he could use his 6" + height advantage more than he did.

Worse was Rashaun Woods - 2004 Oklahoma State. Measurables similar to Blackmon. Still the Big 12 career reception leader, I think.

Bounced around the NFL and Canada for a while.

On the Bassmasters circuit now.
