View Full Version : I was so wrong on Briere

I never really thought he was as good as he is, especially in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to keep him when he became a free agent, it's just that if I had my choice between Drury and him, I would have picked Drury every time.

Then again, if they had acted in good faith and made him more of a priority from the beginning, things might have turned out differently.

I have always thought he was a talented player, he's a small guy but I would take him on my team 7 days a week.

They were saying on WGR yesterday that Briere has like 29 playoff goals (not counting last night) and the Sabres have 33 playoff goals (as a team) since he left Buffalo. Now that is sad.

I read somewhere that he leads the NHL in playoff points since the lockout.

It is still outrageous that they let him go, and let him go in the insulting way they did.

Lindy would have slowly suffocated the life out of his career had he stayed.

The worst part is that Danny Briere loved Buffalo and wanted to be here. But Darcy was so worried about Drury, he didnt give a crap about Briere and didnt even give him an offer until the last minute. :ill:

If only he would stop doing that stupid arm roll pump thing when he scores.

Briere did it again today, he is without a doubt a clutch player.

How can it not be on your mind when you see him score like he does. It might be the biggest off the field/off the ice blunder in Buffalo history and is a painful reminder that Regier should no longer have a job.

50th career playoff goal, he is 4th among all active players. Only Jagr, Lidstrom, and Patrick Marleau have more goals, and he will likely be the reigning active leader in NHL playoff goals soon, and he will soon be close to the active player with the most playoff points. Only Jagr, Lidstrom, Pronger and Elias will have more after this season and he will play longer than all those guys.

Of course I and many other Sabres fans think about it sometimes. But there's a certain point where you gotta just deal with it.

Besides, we have Briere version 2 in Matt Ellis.

I disagree and laugh when people say move on, or get over it. I'll bring it up again and every Sabres fan should continue to bring it up until this blond haired inept tag team is gone.

There is not a single player on this present Sabres roster that can duplicate Briere's record to date. And the only way we can really forget 07/01/07 is to have a team which will not only make the play-offs, but do damage. Then and only then can we erase loosing a guy like Briere from our memory.
There is one way to accelerate their return to play-off hockey and that is to ****-can the untouchables: Ruff and Regier.

Well it's apparent people deal with things in different ways.

Keep *****ing all you want about Lindy and Darcy until they leave. It won't bring Briere back.
