    Schedule Error?

The Bills last played the NFC West in 2008. That year, they played Seattle and SF at home and played Arizona and STL on the road. That being the case, should't they be playing at Seattle and Arizona at home in 2012? I thought these games were set well into the future on a rotating basis. It's not a big deal, just wondering.

Im pretty sure the way it works is that the bottom 2 teams in the AFC East would play the top 2 teams in the NFC West at home, and would travel to the bottom 2 teams in the NFC West.. There is no set home-away schedules, only a rotation of divisions.

      Re: Schedule Error?

It has to do with the fact that the NFL about two years ago decided to change the rotation so that an Eastern Division team would not go play two west coast games in one year. So instead of going to both the Niners and Seahawks you go to one or the other

This happened last year too. The Bills hosted the Raiders and visited the Chiefs last year. They did the same thing in 2008. Instead of going to Oakland and San Diego you go to either Oakland OR San Diego.

No, there is a rotation. Previous year's standings only impact the two intraconference games that are the extra games (e.g. this year at Cleveland and vs Kansas City)

If it's the way you describe, why are Bills playing at SF? I thought part of the idea when they went to the pre-determined schedules was that every team would have a home game against every other team in the league at least once every eight years.

Well, two things. A. that's not true, Arizona isn't even in the Pacific Time Zone. It's in Mountain Time that does not go on Daylight Saving Time and B. there are only four NFC West and AFC West teams. They paired St. Louis and Seattle together and San Francisco and Arizona together.

Oh my gosh. People are just not getting this.

The NFL changed the rotation so that, instead of two Pacific Time Zone teams are paired together, one Pacific Time Zone team is paired with a Mountain Time Zone or Central Time Zone team to minimize west coast travel.

This is not that obscure. It's pretty well known.

The Bills COULD have played at Seattle and at St. Louis like the Jets and Pats are doing. Instead they play at San Francisco and at Arizona

Contrast at San Francisco at Seattle versus at San Francisco and at Arizona or at Seattle and at St. Louis.

The NFL announced that in future years, teams will travel to either Kansas City and San Diego OR to Oakland and Denver when playing the entire AFC West, and to San Francisco and Arizona OR to Seattle and St. Louis when playing the entire NFC West.
Do some of you not have access to Google? This isn't anything new...

You'll notice in 2008, the Bills went to KC and Denver, while hosting SD and Oakland... Last year, we played at KC and SD, while hosting Oakland and Denver, following the quote above.
