Every "rule" has exceptions. I think it's dangerous to believe that because Joe Thomas succeeds with short arms, then short arms aren't a red flag.
My response is, if you have short arms, then you better be as good as Joe Thomas. You better be extraordinary enough in the other aspects of your game to compensate. After all, Thomas was drafted third overall.
Is Reiff that good? If not, then his arm length is a dealbreaker for him.

If you have physical limitations, you'd better be technically sound. I haven't looked into the draft prospects a lot, but I believe Reiff is very good from a technique standpoint.

Michael Roos has some of the shortest arms in the league for an LT, maybe even for a starting OT in general. He still does quite well at LT, because he makes up for it with technique.

By exceptions do you mean: Thomas, Long, Peters, Penn, Clifton, Light, Roos and Gross??

                Yes.
Them out of how many ...?
                (and Long's arms are 35 3/4, btw)

Now, my question still stands. Are Reiff's other qualities exceptional enough? After all, arm length isn't his only concern.
If you think yes, he's gonna be not just a starter but a multi-Pro Bowler, go for it.

Bulaga had short arms as well. He turned out ok.

Heard his arms were 1/4 inches to short. That's 1/4"! I believe that with the correct technique & strength he can easily overcome a quarter inch...

I think i did the stat that most of the best pure DEs in the NFL have 33 inch to 36 inch arms. The only ones that dont fall under that are either OLBs, or exceptionally fast. Reiffs arms being short are a big thing because alot of the best will be able to grab and throw him to the side without him being able to do much about it.
