BOULDER, Colo. -- Colorado receiver and Olympic skier Jeremy Bloom is appealing a ruling that bars him from earning endorsement money, arguing that NCAA rules are not enforceable under state law.

In a brief filed Wednesday with the Colorado Court of Appeals, Bloom's attorneys say the rules have led to conflicting interpretations that Bloom could not play football for the Buffaloes while continuing his skiing career and working in television broadcasting.

NCAA officials did not immediately return phone calls for comment.

Bloom, a world champion and Olympic moguls skier, is challenging NCAA rules that prohibit him from making money from skiing and television while he plays at CU. Last year, Boulder County District Judge Dan Hale ruled against Bloom and he appealed.

Bloom last month said he will play football at Colorado this fall while continuing his skiing career, but without potentially lucrative endorsements.

Bloom attorney Ralph Ogden said Thursday that the NCAA and CU have 30 days to respond to the brief, and Bloom has 15 days after that to file a rebuttal. He said oral arguments could be scheduled late this year.
