Saints GM could eavesdrop on visiting teams

http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/7846290/new-orleans-saints-mickey-loomis-eavesdrop-opposing-coaches-home-games

NEW ORLEANS -- The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Louisiana was told Friday that New Orleans Saints (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/no/new-orleans-saints) general manager Mickey Loomis had an electronic device in his Superdome suite that had been secretly re-wired to enable him to eavesdrop on visiting coaching staffs for nearly three NFL seasons, "Outside the Lines" has learned.

</cite>

Sources familiar with Saints game-day operations told "Outside the Lines" that Loomis, who faces an eight-game suspension from the NFL for his role in the recent bounty scandal, had the ability to secretly listen for most of the 2002 season, his first as general manager of the Saints, and all of the 2003 and 2004 seasons. The sources spoke with "Outside the Lines" under the condition of anonymity because of fear of reprisals from members of the Saints organization.

If it were Belichick, the story would have been swept under the rug by now.

it makes you wonder how far other teams have gone in the past or are doing today in attempt to win but haven't got caught.

IMO it also mirrors our own country/world and economy where some people are willing to do ANYTHING to get ahead

Great. As a Bills fan I have to put up with Pats*, Belichick & his cheating & as a Bucs fan I have to put up with the Saints & their cheating.

You do realize that when the Pats were caught they lost draft pick! No one swept in under the rug. The news was all over, it even had a name "spy gate". They lost 1st round pick as a result!

That was a slap on the wrist for the pats.

Sounds like a bogus accusation to me. ESPN is likely to get sued by both the NFL and Saints organization for posting that report based on here say and no actual concrete evidence of something that may have happened almost 10 years ago. I'm calling this one BS.

Still don't think anything will come from them complaining about ESPNs report. Saints are already under a lot of fire.

LOL you do realize the Pats videotaped and spied on teams as they prepared for games and the Super Bowl, had a massive advantage in their game planning and as a result, won super bowls. It just cost them a few picks. Who cares about the picks. If the Bills can forfeit ALL of their 10 picks for 1 super bowl, i'd do it without thinking twice.

Really? They lost their 1st round pick (the later of the 2 first round picks they had that year), and Goodell destroyed the video tapes. When the commissioner of the league destroys the evidence, that sounds like sweeping it under the rug to me.

I was shocked at how little traction the Spygate story had when it finally came out. I thought it was going to be news for months and months. nope.

There's just so much dirt getting tossed around with the Saints, and with all of the talking heads and media prying so hard in to this, it's getting sad.

Media leeches have officially tried everything they can to try to break that story that they "know" will get them front page and famous on a whim (coughPatMoroncough), and when one of the tens of thousands finally gets one right it's "HA, told you so!"

Frustrating...

Yes.

And if they are punished more severely than that, than you know Kraft, Belicheck and Goodell are...
