Here's the thing though. Other teams are probably thinking the same thing.

I'd take him with our last pick in the 7th round. There's a decent chance that whoever we took there wouldn't make the roster anyway, so I don't think it would be a waste, by any means. And it's not like he isn't talented. Maybe he'll grow up after a couple of years on the practice squad.

another way well intentioned but wrong people do something they think is good but actually perpetuates racism is by applying the racist label to things it doesnt belong to

examples:
- good natured ethnic humor, especially when applied toward one joke but not another (ie. redneck vs ghetto humor)
- observations of ethnicity in media (ie. calgon ancient chinese secret commercial - chinese folks really do own a ton of urban laundries)
- sensitivity to connecting one cultural food to a race but not another (ie. fried chicken and kool-aid vs. greens and beans and cappicino)

how this hurts the cause:
- muddys the water; wastes energy on false unimportant issues
- cheapens the impact of the word racism when it really exists
- creates and reinforces double standards that actually widen the understanding gap between races
