Mayock loves it, says Gilmore is one of his favorite players in the draft:

I saw that too....8 overall on his board. I respect his professional opinion more than most. I'm surprised people are not noting that more.

I think he isn't talked about as a shutdown CB more because he doesn't get as many picks. But I think he will be a guy who will cause many breakups and who will tackle very well all alone.

Personally I like the pick. With the corners already on the team they can start him in a nickel/dime package and I expect by the end of the season he pivots to fulltime. Dump some age at the position next season.

Gruden has liked every pick that every team has made.

The guys on Sirius, when recapping the first round, metioned Gilmore specifically as a great pick (think it was Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan).

Correct. I was listening to that too. Tim Ryan also pointed out his sack numbers as proof of his physicality and versatility.
I'm good with this pick. There were only 6 or 7 guys in the draft that didn't have some question marks. We picked at 10. It's a position of need, and I honestly can't say there was anyone else available at 10 that I wouldn't have likewise been a little nervous about. This wasn't Maybin over Orakpo by any stretch of the imagination.

LOVED the picked. considering what was there, i love that they didn't reach...and given how fast the pick was made, that was their guy.

I live in Charlotte NC which is gamecock country, and Im getting feedback from all the fans. Im really kinda meh on the pick. For a top 10 pick, Id really like to be more excited. Hes no shutdown cornerback but hes solid. Just wish Barron was still there
