punt return, kickoff , and field stretcher.

Had a decent senior year in that roll.

There a possibility that buffalos not the only team that wanted him. They just wanted to make sure they got him. Teams talk and theres most likely a respect for eachother to not completely bs each other, so they probably had note of the increase interest. Especially when theres no playmaking WRs left

After a solid 10th pick and getting lucky with the tackle we originally wanted falling to us at 41 we should have known the bad luck would kick in. The only thing that should be said by buddy nix about this waste of a pick (the kid would have been available in the 5-mid 6th easily if not lower) is "I MISJUDGED this hole rookie wage scale and never thought trades like this would happen this fast. Our front office looks slow here. by the time they realized no one would be available it was too late. The fact they traded a 7th just to move up 2 spots shows that Nix KNEW he had to trade up but realized it too late.

I doubt they want Spiller doing it, and Mckelvin sucks at it. Brad Smith is serviceable at it. Overall yeah he will serve multiple rolls

nobody on the team is a fast as this kid and he will stretch the field for us at WR

I can see why they took him.. I didn't see it coming, but we'll be hearing the story soon

This is a bad pick. Disregarding the kid & potential etc. but the position and the type of WR he is. We really needed a better skilled position that needed focus like LB and various depth,, not a speed demon who probably won't be able to beat out our mediocre udfa's we have as wr's. WR is a need, but not a boom/bust project who won't crack the lineup.
--what scout is responsible for this& why does he have Nix's ear? Ugh

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/t%20j-graham?id=2532850

"Graham is undersized at receiver but has started sparingly throughout his career for North Carolina State. His value lies in his peed. He is still a developing route runner and can get knocked for being a "track guy" who is unreliable across the middle. Nevertheless, his 40-yard dash time will be important throughout pro days and the combine, and he could be selected as high as the third round."

I wanted Hilton but will give the kid a shot. One thing that I believe firmly in, is that WR drafted later on rely on the organization they are in a lot to succeed. If Chan gives him a fair shot and Fitz plays well, he could be dangerous.

How is returning kicks&punts more important then LB & Oline? So what if we selected 1 lineman already, we need more. And it's an obvious priority over a speed technician.

Chill you have no idea

First i am not upset with pick, we needed a receiver and not a possession one. I get that the playmaking receivers are gone.
second I am not upset with the player. I think its great that he got draft in the 3rd round and that he is getting his shot. ALL those kids work their tail off.

I am upset with our front office for not being prepared. What this came down too is the want to hold their 2 4's and their 2 5's and were not trading up using them. Our front office misjudged the amount of moving in this draft for receivers. apparently out of the teams that have drafted receivers before the Bills they did not see the depth Nix was talking about because they were moving up considerably to get their receivers.

I appreciate your posts Thrum and am not totally venting. I am stating my opinion based on the facts that we all saw and heard Nix saw. I pray the kid succeeds because i do not believe this offense right now will average 20 or more points a game. we have added no extra talent to our offense in FA or the draft half way through it.
We will see going forward what happens. You have to agree though, for Nix who "doesn't like trading picks" to take that kid, that high after watching the top "playmaking" receivers traded up for in front of him makes him look or the front office look like something was wrong in that draft room wether it be an argument over a decision or not projecting well.... something went wrong for that high of a pick to possibly go to waste.

You right here. their is no Linebackers that fit our D ranked high enough to take. You also have to admit that the second that Glenn was drafted we should have been dangling our extremely high 3rd round pick and one of our 4th's to move up in the middle of the second and take one of the better receivers. These teams are trading down for peanuts. It would have been easy to facilitate a trade if we tried.

Nix said himself that he did not see the amount of trades happening that were going on.
I don't have a problem with their top 2 picks. and it really didn't take a bunch of strategy to stay at their top 2 picks and take the BPA, we a talking about 2 players in the top 50 picks. Unless you are completely in love with one guy you can sit and get very good players in the top 50.
You not knowing one thing about the wide receiver is fine as well, but i do. If i could sit with you a about 5 minutes of tape i would point out and show you, your 2-50 yard TD's and then i would show you him getting shut down at the line of scrimmage by DB's. I will then show you the cornerbacks he faced, NO elite competition, and when he did face reasonably talented teams he was matched up with there second and 3rd corners if not a safety when he was getting over the top (occasionally).

Again what the **** are you talking about? Not prepared HOW????

First two picks EXACTLY who the vast majority of fans wanted. MANY of which wanted the guy we got in the second in the first.

Then they trade up for a guy it is obvious they really liked and they are unprepared??? GET REAL.

I don't know one thing about the WR other than he is fast as ****. Tell me more oh draft armchair gurus....

If you notice, South alabama, Wake Forrest, and Cincinnati are not exactly good or average defensive schools and their secondaries are atrocious. then look at the years before this. The kid was way over drafted but at the end of the day They saw that he was their guy based on talent available at the position.

I resent the arm chair guru comment as well. I do not trash members on here and also you do not know me, who i am, what i do or my knowledge on anything. I do not want to argue this topic. I respect your opinion and have presented you with the statistics from his last college season which was his best. And i did watch him play last year. 3 times on TV and Live at florida state in Tallahassee my friend.

ugh

Ourlads Scouting has him as a 3rd round talent that started a little over a year after spending a ton of time running track. 20.79 in the 200 meters is blazing fast.

Anyhow, he had 4 returns ( 2 kick, 2 punts ) for TD's and had a decent 2011 season with 7 TD's, despite lousy QB play.

No doubt a scouts pick but I can't wait to see him. Nix said he's strickly outside with that speed and so that eliminates the deep threat WR concern for now.

Someone in that War room obviously loved what he saw.

NO

It shouldn't matter what you do. This is a fan message board. You should be excited about the pick. the kid has wheels and we run a spread offense. He is just going to have to learn to get off press and run routes. It will be hard to put him on the field in any formation under 4 wide receivers though because a safety can roll over to cover him with the corner that is on him and with the short comings (which he could get through) it would be tough for him to get open early in his career. Nix stated we are not done in FA though and will watch the waiver wire which will heat up next week. if you got a proven (not derek hagan) receiver across from Stevie then he could be deadly on the outside running straight and deep. No denying the kids wheels.

Who the **** is TJ Graham??

He was a terrible draft choice by the Bills. What happened to BPA Buddy? You're a damned liar.

The only reason this guy's a Bill is because Al Davis is dead.

probably true.

TJ is a project. Best shot to get something out of him as a rookie is in the return game. He's going to need to get stronger and learn more about route running. But speed in football is like height in basketball- you can't teach it and it makes a big difference. If he has a brain and a work ethic who knows you might have something.

You guys obsessed with reaching and panic moves are missing the point. If TJ develops it was a good pick. If he doesn't it was a bad pick. Which of those it is is presently unknowable.

He's not fully polished yet, there's no doubting that but he's a burner and obviously has some sort of skills or else he wouldn't have been NC State's leading WR last season.

I won't pretend to know if the guy is good, great or terrible but I do know if you suck you won't have any production. Whether that be at the NFL level, the college level, high school or pee wee for that matter.

It's certainly not a good start...especially for an early 3rd-rounder.

let me get this straight. We got a 4th for Lee Evans and then used a 3rd on an unproven burner who's Lee's size ?

WTH? Who needs a burne when Fitz can't throw deep anwyas?

Because we won't be paying Graham an idiotic amount of money to do it, unlike Evans. Plus it should be obvious to everyone by now that Lee is done as an NFL player.

Pretty simple.

Don't forget the screen game, we throw a lot of screens, and our WR screen game was weak after the Eagles game. No speed threat.

I don't love it but what are you going to do. Still some good players on the board, some of which we would've been happy with in the 3rd. Marvin Jones is still a possibility.

blah, but we sure paid more than we got for Lee for someone short and won't go up the middle. Same crap people say about Lee. It's loking like we spent a 3rd in someone who's nothing more has ST POTENTIAL.

You do realize Evans is now the 4th WR on their depth chart, right?

What do you think you're gonna get for an old hasbeen speed receiver in the NFL?

As players age their skills diminish. Lee offered nothing more than speed, he got older and he's lost a step or two which makes him pretty much useless.

Don't let facts get in the way though.

I don't care about releasing Lee. It's that we're replacing him with what seems like an unproven clone of Lee himself. I thought we wanted taller wr's. It's not like Fitz has a rocket arm anyways that he can hit a speester in stride.

Maybe we drafted him to fetch Ralphs depends in a hurry

He can help early as a returner. By the time he's ready to contribute as a starter maybe we'll have a different QB.

All bull**** aside, what was your honest immediate reaction when you heard the Bills 3rd-rd pick?I don't tend overreact one way or another with any pick. It's silly because we simply don't know how things are going to work out. The mock drafts, top 100 prospects , draft grades, etc are a great form of entertainment. However, 99.9% of us (including me) on the message boards aren't breaking down film and forming our own opinions on players. We simply hear and read some things that may or may not be accurate. I consider myself a very knowledge fan. Yet, I realize I don't know more than the scouts and GM's do. Coming into this draft, most would agree that the major needs were LT, CB, WR, OLB and QB. Three rounds in, the Bills have addressed three of the five needs. Not everybody is going to agree with what they do. I simply don't see the point in crapping all over every pick. Not my style.
