All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
yeah short of a major injury bug batten is history. they have him listed at de hahahahaha but really they do
moats has a chance tho. he will be competing with the rookies and any new fas they might add to compete for backup spots. rookies are always hit and miss and moats at least has a leg up with his versatility. he could still stick
he can play inside or outside, and he can rush the passer and be insurance in case merriman gets hurt again as a 3rd down pass rusher.
i actually think batten makes the team as a swing slb/de and takes whites spot... i dont think white can beat out a healthy mckillop coming off a major knee injury. jmo
our lbs
barnett/bradham/scott as a hybrid ss/olb
shepp/carder/mckillop
morrison/moats/ batten as a hybrid slb/de/ilb
Batten is a fish out of water, but if somebody goes down early (*cough*Merriman*cough*) he may make the roster. Moats has a slightly better chance and he needs to really step up otherwise he'll be gone next season at the latest. We only have 8 LBers total on the roster as it is (unless you want to count Scott, which I don't), we should keep 6, and I don't see McKillop or White pushing Arthur off the squad.

Spencer Johnson is terrible, I never want to see him again. Would rather have the two young guys on the roster than his old tired ass. He can't rush from the outside, isn't stout against the run, and does nothing when moved to the interior.
Jauron is not our coach anymore. Everyone will still have to earn a spot. That includes Gilmore . Under Gailey and Nix, everyone has has had to compete. So Batten , Moats ,etc. still have a shot as much as anyone we just drafted.
younger, outside rusher, can play ilb/olb in a pinch...
plus you need blue collar tough players like him as backups
Possibly, but IMO you need guys that can play their position on an every down basis if necessary. If somebody goes down at DE and depth needs to step it up, I'd rather have Johnson than Batten.

Nobody wants them that badly.. They might find a home after they're cut.
I guess we'll see, but Moats and Batten never really found a place on this team and performed with any consistency.... They'll both need rock solid camps to make it
You probably should demand a trade now because the writing is on the wall.
You have no place on this team.
Moats has proven to be a pretty serviceable player. Wannstedt in all likelihood will keep him. I don't know about Batten though. It seems to be taking him longer to figure out what works for him on this defense. Of course I'm going on record now, and saying my surprise cut in training camp will be Kelsay. He's going to have a tough time earning a spot on a pretty stacked front 4 of the defense. He's just not a linebacker. So he too could be an odd man out. JMO
