View Full Version : McGee's focus: Staying in the game

Why subject himself to the rigors of another training camp, to compete with players 10 years younger than he is for a job?
Because he's determined to prove his NFL career is not over.
"I wouldn't be able to live with myself, knowing I left hurt," he said. "That's how you left your career, how you left the NFL, was known as a guy that was hurt all the time?
"If I'm going to leave it's going to be on a healthy season, or kind of like [running back] Fred [Jackson], he was having a great season last year, then he got hurt. I at least want to have that great season."

i think he is tough, but he has probably lost some ability and is getting older. he wont go out easy though. i expect him to push people hard as hell!
good luck terrence!
would be great if he could actually be on a playoff team...

When healthy, he's a much better CB than Drayton Florence at this point. That's why Drayton is looking for a job at the moment.

Considering at this point the only players he has to beat out are Prince Miller and Chris Hill you might want to up the odds a little bit.

probably not man. there is a high probability that they only keep 5 corners in order to have a 6th wr. wrs are harder to replace then corners. jmo
plus searcy and scott can cover in the slot...

i may be in the minority here, but i really like mcgee and always have. i always thought he was a very solid, but not spectacular player.. i would love to see him stay healthy and play his ass off for a year or two.. i will be pulling for him. give it your all man and let the chips fall where they may.

Maybe, but there is no reason they can't keep 6 of both (including Smith as a WR).
I disagree, though, IMO corners are harder to find than WR's.

I like him I hope it works out for both and he stays healthy he's do.

Magoo is damaged goods. I say he doesn't make it past the second game. Mark it down.
I was he was still KR. We didn't have to draft 6 kick returners, ya know.

McGee will make this team. he may not start but his vet presence will be needed
And when healthy he is a pretty good CB. His restructured contract makes him very keepable in that roll

i would rather keep a young safety like howell with scott moving to lb...
5 corners, 5 safeties if you include scott

No reason we can't have 6 corners and 5 safeties, including Scott.

i have 6 wrs not including smith because hagan has more value than mcgee. mcgee cant stay healthy and is 32 coming off a torn pcl... id take a healthy hagan as wr insurance...
i kept 5 dts, and 4 des, not including moats as a 5th de on 3rd down as insurance for merriman... this gave me 8 lbs, but like i said, moats is more of a 5th de for pass rushing insurance... i value moats more than mcgee, pass rush is more important..
i also only have 1 kicker. maybe mcgee is kept over a 2nd kicker?

Here you guys go again cutting another veteran for no reasons. If he was going to be cut he would have been instead of Florence.

I like McGee, but given his age and health situation, it does not make sense that we kept him over Florence from a business standpoint.

Too bad we didn't cut his ass two years to give him his wish to not go out injured.
Oh well.
I guess he's a feel good story...until he breaks his vagina again.

It makes perfect business sense. McGee is the same age as Florence and makes much less money.
