This may come at a huge surprise. But it will be Donald Jones or David Nelson imo. The one thing Jones did show when he played was he attacked the ball! He would actually leave his feet and attack the ball at the highest point, which got him injured, but it was nice to see. David Nelson most likely will start for us opposite of Johnson which means he has to do well. For being 6-5, hes a short distance possession WR. He needs to get vertical and needs to attack the ball. If he can use his size way more, mixed in with how good his hands are, he could do very well! Yes this is my second post in a lil but i just got back from the hospital and missed alot! So whats everyone elses surprise player?

I pretty much already have him penciled in as a solid starter. So i dont see him being a huge suprise. If he gets 80 tackles and 2-3 sacks it would be good but not surprising. Do you have a player that would totally shock you? Or that would come from no where?

Nick Barnett is going to be a beast this year with our D-line in front of him.

I think it might be Merriman. I think fixing his achilles finally will keep him healthy. And with the front line, he will get plenty of room to make plays.

True, his injury last year was in his arm. So hes virtually went 2 years without any issue with his legs!

I too think Merriman will have a stellar year. Healthy...finally. I also think Dareus will be huge with williams and williams on the line now.

I'm going with a DE, Moats or Batten, they should be able to do more without being moved around like they were last year. Especially Moats, guys been all over the place the last few years.

I think it's more of a hope than anything, but I want Merriman to have a great year, especially since so many BILLS fans have written him off. If Merriman can be another productive piece to this Defense, it could be awesome, not that I don't think it's going to be special without him, but if we can get more pressure off the edge, plus his pursuit it will be hard to move that ball against.

Here comes the crucifiction, but....

Fitzy. He'll cut his interception numbers in half and throw 30 TD's.

When you're defense is giving you a hell of a lot more time on the field your numbers are bound to go up! (lets just hope that the interception number doesn't)

The good thing is he did show alot of flashes in pre season last year. Its all we have to measure him by, but at least he didnt suck. He looked like his old self which leads me to believe if he plays alot, hell do great

Blockers are going to focus A LOT of attention on Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus and Mario Williams.

Some of the other guys in the front seven are going to make a lot of plays and put up some pretty good stats.

>> I think Kelvin Sheppard - being in the middle - is definitely going to be one of them.

>> If one of the rookies (Tank Carder or Nigel Bradham) can win a starting spot, they could surprise.

>> And (yikes) don't be surprised if Chris Kelsay puts up a really strong season...

I think Marcell Dareus is going to build on a good rookie season and prove to be one of the best if not the best DT in the league. I could also see Donald Jones surprise a few people and get close to 750 yards receiving as WR typical breakout in their 3rd season.

On the other side of things though think our O-line could struggle to reproduce it's good numbers from last season. As see teams like the Jets and Patriots add 1st Round talent to thier D-lines and we let our best LT candidate walk as an UFA and admit I'm not a fan of Glenn at LT. As said it before but he just seems like a Leonard Davis type that excelled in college because of his sheer size and will be at this best as a pro at OG. In terms of D disappintments that might fall on Nick Barnett as he hed a great 2011 but not sure he'll replicate in 2012.

Although I am a little uncertain about the WR position, and have voiced as much several times, I am going to say that my fears will be gone by the start of the regular season, and we'll be living on Easley Street.

I'm gonna give u 2 names

Chris Hairston.... Think he earns the LT spot and is solid all year.
Leodis McKelvin...with the pass rush much better I think he gets to make some big plays this year. He was by himself way 2 much last year with no safety help. Also contract year.

i'm going with a real surprise...

dorin dickerson

i watched chan gailey's rookie mini-camp interview and when asked whether any players stood out he immediately answered (with almost a sense of being blown away...or being very pleasantly surprised) that a 'couple' of them really made some plays. since was signed later that day (or today), it makes me realize he was one of the players that really exicted the coaches.

...add to that the fact that we could definitely use a wr2/te playmaker, and he's my surprise player of 2012.

Offense- CJ Spiller

-D- Shepard or Searcy SS
--Searcy doesnt start, The GREAT George Wilson#37 does!
So I'm going out there with Searcy. Injury or clean-up,or just packages where he gets field time.
----back to our LSU rookie OLB. If I'm not mistaking,he played The Mile last year.
-So if he plays The Will I expect great coverage & consistent tackling.

--as a long time LONER Kelsay fan,it pained me to see him try & fail to turn. Like he had the original Michael Keeton/Val Kilmer BATSUIT on.
--put Kelsays back on the line @ LE to spell Mario.
Kelsay is good for 5-7 sacks in a 4-3.
---guys,,he IS our current Phil Hansen & you 35+ year olds know what that means.
-remember PHilHansen had a top-3 defense year after year & THEE best RE in nfl history. Kelsay excelled with plant-a-tree Schobel in a base 4-3.
-but god was it painful to see him at OLB with his pathetic agility.
--so put me Down for Kelsay to warrant him playing with us ti retirement and. Ring back his haters. He is a decent starter and an elite backup. When his hands Re in the dirt on pass and run. Fact!
--I don't like Spiller. I view us drafting him as a pathetic attempt to emulate Chris Johnson. Just like the wild cat BS. Copy cat league yadda yadda. BS!
--but I see him excelling.
--I'll come out and say it so it's in everyone's head, if it isn't already.
Our season is all on Fred Jackson playing healthy for all 16 games.
That enhances the scruby udfa WR's to excell & the whole offense. Even that slow-ass TD catching TE. He vanished after Fred-X went down, just like the udfa WR's.

((sorry bout typos! Small keypad-big fingers. Ugh))

Sounds like the Bills are doing, ignoring the fact that they have a terrible starting QB who has won only 10 games in two seasons as starter and has not got any better from his very first game with the Rams, all downhill after that. Hard to ignore he can't throw anything accurate over 15 yards with any zip on it at all, he is the new Captain Checkdown, throws picks at a very high rate, and has never finished even average statistically before.

Easley doesn't have Chance. I know one of the reasons so many
Are listing him.
--Potential,higher draft pick from a Sexy position.
A position that easy to follow when they aRe drafted 1st -4th round.
So IMO he is being willed/forced into "surprise" plAyer because we want our drafted WR's to make it.
-haha I'm Hatin on a kid I really liked and wanted us draft a whole round earlier. Because I live in CT and he is/was really popular here.
--it--funny how the campus stud/star is top o the world one day & barely a nobody in NFL.
--no pun to anyone who picked him.
--curious--which of you Easley pickers, picked Hardy last 2 years. :D

--Kelsay should be removed from this by default.
-TWO obvious reasons he will excell & NoT "surprise" anyone.
His hand is back in the dirt Ina base 4-3(where he belongs)
And the obvious talent he has around him now.
-so I
IMO Kelsay should get back to pre Cover-2//3-4 form.

--ok the Byrd honeymoon is over. Yeah yeah, he was amazing as a rook but cmon!
Someone call out Byrd in his own thread please. Ugh!

I think Stevie will be my biggest surprise player, just not in a production standpoint. I'm thinking he will come in this year more mature and leave the lavish celebrations behind for good

As far as production, I think it will be F Jackson. I have a bad feeling he won't be nearly as productive as last year, especially if he starts splitting more time with Spiller. I hope I'm wrong
