    Cards Secure Fourth 2003 Draft Choice

    Linebacker Gerald Hayes, the Arizona Cardinals’ third-round (70th overall) selection in the 2003 NFL Draft, has agreed to the terms of a three-year contract.

    One of the marquee defenders in the Big East Conference the past three seasons, the University of Pittsburgh middle linebacker garnered national attention as a senior when he became the first Panther defender to record three consecutive 100-tackle seasons since all-America linebacker Jerry Olsavsky from 1986–88. Hayes finished his career with 387 tackles (243 solos), 13.5 quarterback sacks, 51 stops for –172 yards, 9 pass deflections, and 2 interceptions while starting 36 of 44 games.
