ATLANTA -- Denver Broncos tight end Dwayne Carswell was arrested on a domestic violence charge and was in jail Saturday.

He was arrested Friday and charged with simple battery, domestic violence and obstruction of an officer, said Sgt. Nikita Hightower, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff's Department.

Carswell was being held without bail pending an initial court appearance at the county jail Saturday. The circumstances of the arrest were not immediately available.

A team spokesman did not immediately return calls. ..

He was arrested Friday and charged with simple battery, domestic violence and obstruction of an officer, said Sgt. Nikita Hightower, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff's Department.

Carswell was initially held without bail, but Associate Magistrate's Judge Roy Roberts set bond after a brief hearing at the Fulton County Jail. Carswell was not asked to enter a plea, and a public defender was assigned to represent him for the hearing. A preliminary hearing was set for Tuesday.

Denver Broncos tight end Dwayne Carswell was released from custody late Saturday after being arrested by the Atlanta Police Department on Friday, according to Fulton County (Ga.) Sheriff's Department public information officer Sgt. Nikita Adams-Hightower.

ATLANTA -- Denver Broncos tight end Dwayne Carswell waived his right to a hearing Tuesday to determine whether there was enough evidence to arrest him on domestic violence charges, court officials said.

The move means Carswell, 31, will next appear in state court to enter a plea on charges of domestic violence battery and obstruction of an officer, said Rebecca Smith in the criminal warrants division of Fulton County magistrate court.

A date for that hearing had not been scheduled Tuesday....

ATLANTA - Denver Broncos tight end Dwayne Carswell will stand trial on charges related to a July 4 assault on his girlfriend.

Carswell, 31, failed to appear at the preliminary hearing Tuesday, thus waiving his right to one. His case was bound over to state court...
