The Bills (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/BUF/buffalo-bills) have mixed WR combinations during OTAs this year, partly because this is the time of year to experiment with different looks. As a result, WR David Nelson (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1634499/david-nelson) has seen more time on the outside than in his usual slot position, which could also happen come September. "It just creates different matchups," Nelson said. "We're trying to make the defense play to us instead of us playing to them."

SO Nelson moves to the outside and Jones moves inside.

It seems logical to have Nelson more outside since he can tower over most CB's and fight for the ball. He has 5 inches on Jones.

Jones speed over Nelson might give him an advantage in the slot. However Jones' underwhelming 2011 season fills us all with confidence

I guess will see how this works come training camp and pre-season.. Right now it's almost impossible to see if it improves or regresses the WR corps

I would not be surprised to see Clowney or Hagen get a fair share of playing time either.

yeah none of this OTA stuff really means much in regards to who is really going to win out which positional battle.s

Lots of experimenting going on and familiarity expansion for players

I'm glad Chan is finding ways to change things up unlike Dick who kept doing the same thing over and over again and became so predictable.

Agreed. It is great to have somebody that knows what they are doing in charge again. Jauron fits perfect on the Browns, a team without a clue.

Translation: we have no idea what to do about #2 WR so we're going to throw a bunch of **** against the wall and hope something sticks.

If the Bills just run the ball more the WRs will become instantly better.

Classic Chan.

He's always going to tinker with things. One of the things that eventually led to his dismissal at Tech. Hopefully he's learned to balance it now.

Well, I say tinker away Chan. Keep the other teams guessing, same thing Ryan is doing on the Jets.

I have zero issue with tinkering as long as he learns from his blunders in the past. Like using Calvin Johnson as a decoy. That was one of his worst tinkering experiences.

Draftees are all promise and no production, I know. I'm still mystified though, that BUF selected Graham 20 or so spots above Sanu. College CVs, sure - but Sanu's was a of hard, big hitter with a rep for running crisp patterns. AFAIK, that's what he has shown in camp, understanding that the OTAs are what they are.

If I ran some flavor of spread offense, I would want a big guy that can block hard, good hands, toss db checks into the ditch, get to the middle beneath the coverage. Not a second or third speedster - I can find those, hanging around taxi stands.

Nobody can predict the future, but BUF grabbing for Graham when Sanu was there makes me scratch my head. I guess we will see.

I think if the Bills can be effective enough running the ball, it could open up receivers who normally have a hard time getting open in the passing game. I agree, they should run the ball more, they definitely have the tools for it in Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller. JMO

The #2 WR spot will be a strength this year. I'm liking the candidates there.

I was going to say the same about you and Op. Hear me now, believe me later. I don't care.

Although WR Donald Jones (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1684563/donald-jones) stole the show on offense at Friday's practice session, fellow WR Marcus Easley (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1277467/marcus-easley) also had a strong workout. Easley is making his way back after missing each of his first two years with injuries. "He's making some plays out here," WRs coach Bob Bicknell said. "He's big, he's physical, he runs better than most people think."

http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/6/15/3089845/brad-smith-position-quarterback-receiver-buffalo-bills

A lot has been made recently about the fact that Buffalo Bills (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/buffalo-bills) "slash" player (for lack of a better term) Brad Smith (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1267/brad-smith) has been practicing exclusively at quarterback (http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2012/6/12/3078536/brad-smith-quarterback-wildcat-buffalo-bills) to this point in the off-season process. That little experiment, however, has apparently (yet perhaps temporarily) come to an end.

Chris Brown at BuffaloBills.com reports that in the last two days of OTAs, Smith has been practicing at wide receiver (http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/06/15/brad-smith-back-at-wr/), leaving the quarterbacking reps to Ryan Fitzpatrick, Vince Young and a just-returned-to-full-health Tyler Thigpen.

Bills head coach Chan Gailey also told reporters on Friday afternoon that while it hasn't happened yet, the team will spend time installing a Wildcat package (https://twitter.com/buffalobills/status/213703713607532545) that will obviously prominently feature Smith. That could happen as soon as during next week's mandatory mini-camp, but the coaches may also just wait for training camp, as well.

If you're right later I will happily tell you so, since that will most likely mean the Bills offense is flourishing. If not, well...

Easley ALWAYS looks good at this time of year. but when he the Regular Season starts, he's NOWHERE to be found. how many more years are we going to have to hear this?

Pretty sure this is his last shot in Buffalo. Stay healthy and produce, or bye-bye.
