The WR battle... How do you see it

Johnson and Nelson are locks IMO.

Jones appears to be a lock and has had a solid camp.

    Hagan is making noise

TJ Graham is doing better then anyone thought he would be at this junction

    SO at this junction

    Johnson
    Nelson
    Jones
    Hagan
    Graham

    (Smith)

I believe since we run 4 and 5 WR sets 6 WR will be kept

Easley has been solid at times, but he had a horrible practice yesterday, had a case of the dropsies, and mis-read on one play and Chan was chewing him out for it (According to WGR55 8-3 camp report) ... An occasional mistake doesn't get you chewed out IMO, but when the HC is following you back down the sidelines ripping into you, well I have to think Chan is losing some patience with some of his mental lapses, and that could open up that 6th position that many of us were handing to Easley

Practice LVP: WR Marcus Easley. The wide receivers for the Buffalo Bills had a major case of the drops, to which Chan Gailey confirmed after practice. Gailey called it unacceptable. While Easley isn't the only offender, he earned LVP honors for getting chewed out by the head coach during team drills. The first-team offense was in a red zone situation, and Easley had worked his man to think he was going inside, and would have had a touchdown right at the goal line had he ran the proper route. Easley didn't run the right route. Fitzpatrick saw the play developing, anticipated where Easley would be and placed it perfectly to where the wideout could have caught it for six. Instead of breaking out, he stayed on his path and heard an earful from Gailey as he walked back to the huddle.

Aiken Clowney and Roosevelt.. Aiken been missing for a few days do to an slight injury but is back now. Roosevelt has dropped nothing from reports I have heard. Clowney has made some nice plays, some nice LONG plays. If Aiken comes back in strong then Aiken Clowney or Roosevelt over Easley is a big possibility.

Clowney has made some noise at camp, and he is fast..

IMO Martin and Sessions have no chance. The Bubble battle is Easley, Clowney, Aiken, Roosevelt... and after hearing reports if these are our bubble guys we should have a solid WR core.

Depth chart out for 1st preseason game

Surprised Martin is listed ahead of others.

With the team’s first official depth coming out in advance of the team’s first preseason game there weren’t any real surprises with respect to the team’s order at receiver.
The two WR positions on either side of the formation(see above chart).

WR – S. Johnson, Hagan, Martin, Roosevelt, Aiken, Session
WR - D. Jones, Nelson, Graham, Easley, Clowney

Putting those two listings together the order would shake out as follows based on the reps we’ve witnessed in practice.
Johnson, Jones, Nelson, Hagan, Graham, Martin, Easley, Roosevelt, Clowney, Aiken, Session.

Wonder if Martin's special teams work is helping him.

Before training camp I thought that they would only keep 5 recievers.

Now I think they keep 6 with both Hagan and Easley making it.

I think Johnson, Nelson, Jones and Graham are locks. Smith also, obviously, but I won't count him for this.

#5 (I think they'll keep five +Smith) is a battle between Hagan and Easley IMO. Aiken and Rosey have an outside shot. Martin, Clowney and Sessions are camp fodder. If the entire group stays healthy, we will be letting some guys with talent go just because there aren't enough spots for them, which is a nice change of pace.

im giving hagan a lock too. he would have to bomb from here on out and today was his only bad day so i think he recovers. and i think they keep six plus smith, unless they decide to keep dickerson and mcwhatshisname or potter as a ko specialist then they might keep five

I got a lot of flak last year for pointing out that derek hagan is pretty good. I hope he will end up being the #2 with Nelson being the slot.

I hope Gailey finally sees the light and Jones gets cut or at least isn't in the top 4 on the depth chart. He is not very good.

He is not getting cut.. That's for sure, and he has been one of the more consistent WR's in camp. I GUARANTEE HE IS TOP 4

3rd year player who struggled with inexperience and injury last year.. Obvioulsly the team feel differently.

As for Hagan.. We've seen it over and over again, when an non-household name is brought up people tend to write that player off... Draftboy was pretty high on Hagan from the get-go... I was indifferent. Glad he is steppnig it up, which is all I wanted to see..

I really liked Hagan at Arizona State. Sometimes it just takes time for a player to become a decent pro. I think Easley is the odd man out not because of a bad practice but because he has done nothing to prove he's worth a roster spot. It's not his fault, it's almost entirely due to injuries. But if the choice is which green player to keep, I'd rather go with Graham. And Hagan is earning his right to be on this roster.

I will say this though. Looking at that depth chart, no WR outside of Stevie should prevent us from adding more talent there.
