Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey said Monday he plans to play his starters just under 20 plays in Thursday's exhibition opener against the Washington Redskins at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
"Somewhere around 15, 18 plays, something like that," Gailey said. "That's what the plan is going in. If they're in the middle of a drive we might keep our [starters] out there. If it's 13 [snaps] and they've played well, we might get them out at the end of a series."
The 7 p.m. game is not sold out and will be blacked out of local television. More than 20,000 tickets remain, the team announced. The game will be televised on a tape-delayed basis at 8 p.m. Friday on Channel 7.
